DS Plastic Innovations Sdn. Bhd.
in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, is seeking an experienced CAD Drafter to prepare accurate AutoCAD drawings and production-ready files for laser cutting, CNC router work, fabrication and product development. You will convert customer requirements, sketches and measurements into practical production drawings, support new-product development, and ensure drawings are correct, complete and suitable for production.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of AutoCAD drafting, laser-cutting drawings, CNC-router drawings, fabrication design, manufacturing design or product development.
- Diploma or Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Design, Manufacturing Design or Engineering Design.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
- Able to prepare accurate 2D technical, fabrication and production drawings.
- Able to convert sketches, photographs, and measurements into production-ready drawings.
- Good understanding of dimensions, scale, material thickness, fitting, joints, clearances and assembly.
- Strong attention to detail and drawing accuracy.
- Able to work independently with limited supervision.
- Able to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate 2D AutoCAD drawings for laser cutting, CNC router work and fabrication.
- Convert customer sketches, photographs, samples, dimensions and measurements into production-ready drawings.
- Prepare cutting outlines, holes, slots, engraving areas, joints, assembly details and production notes.
- Check material type, thickness, dimensions, scale, fitting clearances and fabrication requirements.
- Ensure drawings are accurate, complete and suitable for actual production.
- Prepare and export appropriate drawing/file formats according to production requirements.
- Arrange cutting layouts to improve material utilization and reduce wastage where applicable.
- Modify drawings based on customer confirmation, sample results and production feedback.
- Support research and development of new products, materials and fabrication methods.
- Assist in developing new standard and customized products.

Job description
We are looking for an experienced CAD Drafter - Laser Cutting, CNC Router & Product Development to prepare accurate AutoCAD drawings and production-ready files for laser cutting, CNC router work, fabrication and product development. You will convert customer requirements, sketches, photographs, samples and measurements into practical production drawings. You will also support new-product development, sample preparation, drawing revisions and improvements to existing products. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role with no team-management responsibility.
Prepare accurate 2D AutoCAD drawings for laser cutting, CNC router work and fabrication.
Convert customer sketches, photographs, samples, dimensions and measurements into production-ready drawings.
Prepare cutting outlines, holes, slots, engraving areas, joints, assembly details and production notes.
Check material type, thickness, dimensions, scale, fitting clearances and fabrication requirements.
Ensure drawings are accurate, complete and suitable for actual production.
Prepare and export appropriate drawing/file formats according to production requirements.
Arrange cutting layouts to improve material utilization and reduce wastage where applicable.
Modify drawings based on customer confirmation, sample results and production feedback.
Support research and development of new products, materials and fabrication methods.

Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience in AutoCAD drafting, laser-cutting drawings, CNC-router drawings, fabrication design, manufacturing design, product design or product development.
Diploma or Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Design, Manufacturing Design, Engineering Design or a related discipline.
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
Able to prepare accurate 2D technical, fabrication and production drawings.
Able to convert sketches, photographs, physical samples and measurements into production-ready drawings.
Good understanding of dimensions, scale, material thickness, fitting, joints, clearances and assembly.
Strong attention to detail and drawing accuracy.
