Job summary

Plexus Manufacturing Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced manufacturing operations leader to own line ownership, capacity management and execution across high-mix production environments. You will align with site and corporate objectives, drive lean improvements and guide an operations team including managers and supervisors.

The role requires deep electronics manufacturing process knowledge, ERP/MES data fluency, and the ability to present root-cause analyses and recovery plans to executive

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is preferred with 15+ years of related experience; equivalence considered.
• Deep familiarity with electronics manufacturing processes and a data-driven mindset.
• Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration across Supply Chain, Quality, Planning and Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Direct ownership of manufacturing lines, sector capacity, and execution in high-mix, high-complexity production environments.
• Lead Operations Managers, Production Supervisors, Line Leads and direct manufacturing labor while coordinating Industrial Engineering, Quality, Planning and Materials.
• Make final determinations on escalations, shift scheduling, line-balancing trade-offs and CapEx deployment at site level.
• Develop standard operating practices, improve yield and capacity through lean and Kaizen.
• Drive achievement of site objectives including quality, OTD, revenue and customer satisfaction.

Job description

Manages site manufacturing operations by establishing strategic plans that align to site and Corporate objectives. Makes final recommendation on manufacturing operational matters and ensures manufacturing operations effective achievement of objectives. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company. Participates in development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people. Ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.

Key Job Accountabilities:

Functional Mandate: Direct ownership of manufacturing lines, sector capacity, and execution across high-mix, high-complexity production environments.

Span of Control: Leads Operations Managers, Production Supervisors, Line Leads, and direct manufacturing labor, while cross-functionally orchestrating Industrial Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Materials.

Decision Authority: Makes the final determination on operational escalations, shift scheduling adjustments, line line-balancing trade-offs, operational containment actions, and site-level CapEx deployment.

Evaluate and promote best practices and optimum utilization of resources; devise standard operating practices and develop plans for the efficient use of materials, machines, capital and employees; and drive improvements through the application of lean manufacturing practices and Kaizen activity.

Responsible for overall site sector(s) manufacturing operations to include; supply chain, performance and capacity management.

Provide the manufacturing site sectors operations leadership, resulting in the effective implementation of the required vision, strategy, quality, OTD, revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

Responsible for the management of level 1 and level 2 metrics (as defined by SOP 14003) and daily management metrics.

Develop, lead, and motivate the manufacturing operations team. This involves evaluating talent and strengthening the team as required, solidifying succession plans and improving leadership capability.

Cross-Functional Stakeholder Interdependencies

To achieve the mandate outlined in this job description, the leader must manage horizontal relationships across four critical internal functions:

Supply Chain & Materials Management: Synchronizes work-order release with actual component availability. Prevents line starvation while avoiding unauthorized floor-stock accumulation.

Test & Process Engineering: Collaborates on Design for Manufacturability (DFM), cycle-time optimization, tooling maintenance, and automated test equipment (ATE) uptime.

Quality Assurance: Ensures non-conforming material reports (NCMR) and Corrective Action Requests (CAR) are resolved systematically rather than bypassed for speed.

Program Management (PM): Acts as the operational authority explaining recovery schedules, line constraints, and ramp feasibility directly to customer-facing program managers.

Education/Experience Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 15 or more years of related experience is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.

Technical Acumen: Deep familiarity with electronics manufacturing processes (SMT, automated visual/optical inspection, wave soldering, conformal coating, and mechanical box-build system integration).

System & Data Fluency: Proficiency navigating Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP like SAP) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) to extract actionable yield and capacity data.

Executive Presence: Ability to switch fluidly from a direct root-cause conversation with an SMT operator on the floor to a P&L and capital expenditure presentation before the Site General Manager and VP of Operations.

Ability to provide leadership, direction and guidance to members of the Manufacturing Operations team.

Develop a passion for customer commitment by influencing members of Manufacturing Operations to effectively implement customer strategy.
