Job summary

KPJ Healthcare Berhad seeks a dedicated dietary service assistant to process diet orders and assist patients in selecting meals according to prescribed diets. You will ensure meals comply with orders, coordinate with dietitians, and support meal assembly with attention to quality and quantity.

Role involves maintaining food safety temperatures, basic bookkeeping, and assisting with catering projects. Training workshops are provided to develop skills and knowledge within a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Basic education with SPM or STPM; food handling courses beneficial.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across functions.
• Ability to work in a hospital dietary services environment; patient focus and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Process new diet orders or changes and update accordingly.
• Assist patients in selecting meals according to diet prescriptions.
• Check meals against inpatient diet orders; adjust as needed.
• Consult Dietitian if in doubt and ensure meals are served as ordered.
• Attend on-the-job training workshops and lectures.
• Prepare food items with attention to quality and quantity.
• Handle transportation of food and supplies; maintain safe temperatures.
• Perform light bookkeeping duties and report malfunctions to supervisor.
• Inspect food items and equipment regularly; support catering projects.
• Undertake any other duties as instructed by the organization.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

To maintain a high standard of food presentation service and hygiene to patients and visitors.

JOB DESCRIPTION

tProcess new diet orders or diet changes as required and update accordingly. Assist patients in making proper selections according to prescribed diet. Take orders either manually or via Mobile Dietary Menu (MDM). Check menu against inpatient's diet prescription and do adjustment accordingly. Consult Dietitian if have doubt. Assist to check each patient's meal at the end of meal assembly process to make sure food is served as ordered. Attending on-the-job training workshops and lectures. Prepare food items by ensuring both quality and quantity. Manage transportation of food and supplies. Ensure temperatures are within specified range as according to statutory requirements and recommended approved guidance. Perform light bookkeeping duties. Report kitchen malfunctions to superior immediately. Inspect food items and equipment on a constant basis. Assist with food preparation services for catering projects. Any other duties as instructed by the organization.

JOB REQUIREMENT

Education: Minimum SPM / STPM, Courses in food handling and services or equivalent. Knowledge and Experiences: No experience required as on-the-job training shall be provided. However, experience in food related industry shall be an added. Familiarity with any food industry. Experience in Hospital Dietary Services will be an extra advantage. Knowledge of customer service related. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions. Ability to work collaboratively in a team and interface with various levels of the organization. Skills & Competencies: Special skills required. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Maintains the integrity and quality of both computerized and manual data. Personal attributes: Self‑motivated with good interpersonal and communication skills with positive attitude to work. Able to work on own initiatives, prioritize work and meet deadlines. Good timekeeping but prepared to be flexible.
