Job summary

Pointstar in Malaysia is seeking a passionate and driven Developer Intern to join our team. You will focus on creating innovative internal applications using AI and open-source technologies.

These applications will be developed with the intent to be marketed as products. You will work closely with product managers to design, build, and implement solutions using the latest tools and technologies in the AI space.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or recently completed degree in CS/Engineering.
• Basic understanding of ML principles and AI algorithms.
• Experience with Python, JavaScript, or Java.
• Familiarity with open-source development tools (Git).
• Exposure to ML libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
• Willingness to learn quickly and work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop AI-powered internal applications and contribute to prototypes.
• Open-source contribution and using community frameworks.
• Collaborate with product managers to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Prototype, test, and iterate on new ideas for potential products.

We are seeking a passionate and driven Developer Intern to join our team. In this role, you will focus on creating innovative internal applications using AI and open-source technologies. These applications will improve internal processes and be developed with the intent to be marketed as products. The intern will work closely with product managers to design, build, and implement solutions using the latest tools and technologies in the AI space.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop AI-powered Applications: Contribute to designing, developing, and deploying AI-driven apps that streamline internal workflows and offer potential as commercial products.
• Open Source Contribution: Actively use open-source frameworks and libraries to build solutions, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code.
• Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with internal stakeholders, including product managers and other developers, to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
• Prototype and Experiment: Participate in rapid prototyping, testing, and iterating on new ideas based on feedback.
• AI Model Integration: Implement and fine-tune machine learning models for real-world applications, ensuring they are optimised for performance and scalability.
• Code Review & Best Practices: Engage in code reviews, follow best practices for coding standards, and contribute to improving development processes.
• Documentation: Document your work, including development processes, system architecture, and APIs, clearly and concisely.

Experience

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Willing to join for a minimum of 6 months with commitment.
• Basic understanding of machine learning principles and AI algorithms.
• Experience with at least one programming language such as Python, JavaScript, or Java.
• Familiarity with open-source software development and related tools (e.g., Git, GitHub).
• Exposure to popular machine learning libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically about business needs.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and tools quickly.Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in building and deploying web applications.
• Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Familiarity with containers (Docker, Kubernetes) and continuous integration (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Knowledge of natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, or other specialised AI areas.
• Contribution to open-source projects or personal AI projects.
