Job summary

TERA in Malaysia is seeking an electrical CAD drafter to develop detailed solar PV drawings and associated documentation. You will collect data, generate roof racking layouts, DC cable routing, and wiring diagrams, then liaise with Business Development and Project Engineers to ensure all scopes are captured and delivered on time.

Candidates should have an engineering qualification and CAD proficiency; familiarity with MS Office tools is expected.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in engineering (any of listed).
• Experience in electrical engineering projects or solar PV is a plus.
• Proficient with CAD software and drafting tools; familiar with MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Visio.
• Ability to start immediately or on short notice is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Collect data and incorporate into drawings, schematics, maps, and related docs.
• Produce detailed solar PV electrical drawings: roof layout, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams.
• Collaborate with BD, Project Engineers, Site Supervisor to cover all scopes and details.
• Ensure on-time delivery of designs and drawings.
• Review and revise designs for accuracy, cost efficiency and compliance.
• Maintain project documentation including revisions and BOM items.

Job description

• To perform data collection and incorporate the information into technical drawings, schematics, maps and etc.
• To produce accurate and detailed solar PV system electrical drawings: roof racking system & layout, DC cable routing, wiring diagrams, single line drawing of inverter(s), central drop point location, inverter location, Distribution box location and etc. for C&I solar panel projects.
• To work closely with Business Development, Project Engineers, Site Supervisor and relevant parties while preparing, presenting technical drawings and to ensure all scopes & details are covered and included.
• To ensure on-time delivery of designs and drawings.
• To review and revise design & drawing to ensure accuracy, completeness, cost efficient and adherence to relevant standard. Make necessary modifications based on feedback.
• To ensure all designs and drawings are comply with relevant codes, regulations and standards.
• To assist in compiling BOM List Quantity
• To obtain proposed subcon company and compared cost from Project Engineer if needed.
• To perform Site visit with Business Development & Project Engineer upon order intake when required.
• To carry out Project Design and itinerary detail Bill of Material (BOM) List if needed.
• To attend Kick Off Meeting (KOM) and notify Purchaser (F & A) on solar panels & inverters model & quantity; BOM List Quantity and Subcon Cost for purchase planning during KOM if needed.
• To organize and maintain project documentation, including drawings, revisions, and other relevant records.
• To identify and resolve issues or discrepancies in drawings and plans.
• To stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and changes in design standards to enhance job performance.
• To perform any other duties as assigned by the superior.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Diploma, Advanced / Higher / Graduate Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree in Engineering.
• Working experience in electrical engineering projects, and/or executing engineering of Solar PV projects are a plus.
• Knowledge and experience in preparing system related documentation Software & Tools: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Visio and etc.
• Proficient in CAD software and other drafting tools.
• Ability to start work immediately / within short notice period would be added advantage.
