Job summary

Solarvest is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead design for Battery Energy Storage Systems and high-voltage projects in Malaysia. The role covers HV design up to 275 kV, BESS secondary systems, protection, metering, and control, with opportunities to liaise with utilities and international partners.

You will prepare technical proposals, create SLDs and layouts, and ensure compliance with MS/IEC standards while supporting power quality and interconnection activities across projects.

Qualifications

• Must have BESS experience and electrical secondary system design knowledge.
• Experience with HV system designs up to 275 kV including protection and metering.
• Good communication skills in Mandarin, English and Malay.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical proposals for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Design low, medium, and high voltage systems up to 275 kV.
• Create layouts, SLDs, and termination drawings for solar PV, BESS, EV charger, and related auxiliary systems.
• Design secondary circuits including protection relays, metering, and control.
• Develop network schematic diagrams and oversee testing/POC where needed.
• Design lightning protection for solar farms and buildings.
• Support internal teams on high fault level and power quality issues.
• Coordinate configuration of communication devices remotely or on-site.
• Engage with utility providers domestically and internationally as required.
• Liaise with suppliers, contractors and consultants to ensure design requirements are met.
• Familiar with MS, IEC and relevant standards as basis of design.

Job description

• Prepare technical proposal for Battery Energy Storage System
• Design of low, medium, & high voltage system up to 275kV level
• Design layouts, SLDs, and termination drawings for commercial, industrial, and utility projects involving solar PV, Battery Energy Storage System, EV Charger as well as the related auxiliary systems
• Design secondary circuit including protection relays, metering, auxiliary power, indication & control
• Design network schematic diagram and oversees testing and Proof of Concept where necessary
• Design lightning protection system for solar PV farm and/or associated buildings
• Support internal team on high fault level and power quality issues
• Support internal team on configuration of communication devices either remotely or on-site
• Support internal team on requirement from utility company domestically (TNB/SEB, SESB/NUR) and internationally (DES, BPC, EVN, PLN) as per company target focus
• Support internal team on Interconnection Facility requirement, including liaising with utility provider and authorities, drawing reviews, testing & commissioning, and site work if necessary
• Communicate internally with project team and externally with suppliers/contractors/consultants to facilitate design requirement
• Be familiarised with MS, IEC, and other relevant standards as basis of design principle
• Plan, develop, and execute idea, engineering solution, or other value-added items in line with company road map

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
• Prior experience in BESS, electrical secondary system and HV 132kV-275kV electrical power design
• Has valid car driving licence
• Good command of speaking and writing in Mandarin, English, and Malay
