Job description

As the Deputy Senior Manager, Legal, you will play a pivotal role in providing leadership and strategic direction within the Legal Department. Reporting directly to the Head, Legal & Tender Secretary, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and deployment of legal resources to meet the company's operational and strategic objectives. This role requires a seasoned legal professional with expertise in property development and a strong track record in managing legal affairs across various projects and litigation matters.

Job Accountabilities

• To ensure the Company’s compliance with the relevant statutory requirements, regulations and/or law and to liaise with the Company secretarial department if needs be.
• To prepare, review and/or make recommendations on legal documentations to ensure that the Company’s interests are protected whilst ensuring that the client’s needs are also met.
• To identify and provide evaluation, advice and counsel to the Management and/or Board on legal matters or issues involving the Company.
• To handle and manage litigation matters and intellectual property issues involving the Company.
• To liaise with Company’s external solicitors in managing legal cases and to ensure timely response.
• To conduct legal research on areas of law. To also regularly monitor changes in legislations and laws and keep the Management and/or the Board informed of legislations affecting company operations.

Qualifications & Technical Competences

• Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution; Master's degree in Law (LLM) or MBA is preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in a senior legal role, preferably within a corporate environment, with a strong emphasis on contract law, litigation management, and legal advisory.
• Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and motivate a team of legal professionals.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal stakeholders and external legal partners.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess legal risks and provide strategic advice.
