Job summary

Heineken Malaysia seeks an experienced commercial and corporate lawyer to independently handle day-to-day legal matters and provide practical, timely, and commercially sound advice to safeguard the Company’s interests.

The role covers commercial advisory, debt recovery and dispute management, risk and compliance, contract and policy management, IP protection, stakeholder coordination, and legal capability building through trainings.

Qualifications

• A recognised Law degree and admission to the Malaysian Bar.
• 8+ years post-qualification experience in commercial and corporate law.
• In-house legal experience preferred; litigation experience advantageous.
• Strong commercial awareness and independent working style.

Responsibilities

• Commercial Legal Advisory: Provide legal advice on commercial transactions, contracts, marketing communications and business operations.
• Debt Recovery & Dispute Management: Manage debt recovery matters, assess risks and support dispute resolution.
• Legal Risk & Compliance: Identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks; strengthen compliance frameworks.
• Contract & Policy Management: Review/negotiate contracts; develop guidelines; improve processes.
• Intellectual Property Protection: Oversee trademark matters and enforce where needed.
• Stakeholder & External Counsel Management: Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external counsel.
• Legal Capability Building: Deliver legal trainings and guidance to employees.

In this role, you will work closely with the Senior Manager – Legal, independently managing day-to-day legal matters while providing practical, timely and commercially sound advice to support our business objectives and safeguard the Company’s interests.

What You’ll Be Doing

Commercial Legal Advisory: Provide legal advice and support to Commercial Finance, Sales, Marketing and other business functions on commercial transactions, contracts, marketing communications and business operations.

Debt Recovery & Dispute Management: Manage debt recovery matters, assess legal risks and support dispute resolution to protect the Company’s interests.

Legal Risk & Compliance: Identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks, strengthen compliance frameworks, and ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations and internal policies.

Contract & Policy Management: Review and negotiate contracts, develop practical legal guidelines and improve contract management processes to support effective business decision-making.

Intellectual Property Protection: Oversee trademark matters, identify potential infringements and advise on appropriate enforcement actions.

Stakeholder & External Counsel Management: Partner with internal stakeholders and external legal counsel to deliver effective, timely and cost-conscious legal solutions.

Legal Capability Building: Develop and deliver legal and compliance briefings, training and guidance to help employees understand and fulfil their legal responsibilities.

What We’re Looking For

A recognised Law degree and admission to the Malaysian Bar.

At least 8 years of post-qualification experience in commercial, corporate and other relevant legal matters. In-house legal experience is strongly preferred, and litigation experience would be an advantage.

Strong commercial awareness, sound legal judgment and the ability to manage legal matters independently with minimal supervision.

Excellent analytical, drafting, negotiation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex legal matters into practical business solutions.

Strong stakeholder management and communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Mandarin proficiency would be an added advantage.
