Job summary

Woh Hup Group in Malaysia is seeking a Deputy M&E Director to lead the operational delivery of M&E works across Data Centre projects. Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services Engineering or related field.
• Professional engineering registration/certification an advantage.
• 10–15 years of M&E engineering experience, including leading MEP construction, commissioning and delivery on Data Centre or mission critical projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery and execution of M&E works across Data Centre projects, from construction through testing, commissioning and handover.
• Manage and coordinate project delivery teams, ensuring alignment of construction, MEP, QA/QC and commissioning activities with project objectives.
• Provide leadership and oversight of all Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) construction activities, ensuring works are executed safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved designs.
• Establish and maintain project delivery standards, processes and best practices to drive consistency across all M&E teams portfolio wide.
• Oversee QA/QC activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, client requirements and regulatory standards.
• Lead commissioning and CX activities, ensuring testing, IST and handover requirements are properly planned, coordinated and executed.
• Monitor project progress, productivity, resource utilisation and delivery performance across all M&E teams, implementing corrective actions where required.

Job description

The Deputy M&E Director is responsible for leading the operational delivery of M&E works across all Data Centre projects in Malaysia which includes construction execution, MEP installation, QA/QC and commissioning. The role ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with client requirements and quality standards, leading the in-house M&E Production Team, Coordinators, and M&E Managers/Senior Managers across the portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Lead the overall delivery and operational execution of M&E works across Data Centre projects, from construction through testing, commissioning and handover.
• Manage and coordinate project delivery teams, ensuring alignment of construction, MEP, QA/QC and commissioning activities with project objectives.
• Provide leadership and oversight of all Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) construction activities, ensuring works are executed safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved designs.
• Establish and maintain project delivery standards, processes and best practices to drive consistency across all M&E teams portfolio wide.
• Oversee QA/QC activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, client requirements and regulatory standards.
• Lead commissioning and CX activities, ensuring testing, IST and handover requirements are properly planned, coordinated and executed.
• Monitor project progress, productivity, resource utilisation and delivery performance across all M&E teams, implementing corrective actions where required.
• Work closely with the Deputy Director, Technical & Engineering, Project Controls and Commercial teams to resolve project risks, technical issues and delivery challenges.
• Allocate M&E resources (managers, coordinators, production team) across projects based on demand and priority.
• Manage the full procurement process for M&E consultants and subcontractors, including scopes, bid evaluation and contract negotiation, in compliance with governance frameworks.
• Provide regular operational performance reporting to Head of Malaysia, including delivery risk, commissioning readiness and key operational metrics.
• Ensure safety standards and compliance are implemented across all project activities.

Requirements:

Education & Certification

• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services Engineering, or related field.
• Professional engineering registration/certification an advantage.

Experience

• Minimum 10 to 15 years of M&E engineering experience, including significant experience leading MEP construction, commissioning and delivery on Data Centre or mission critical projects.
• Proven track record managing multidisciplinary delivery teams under a matrix structure across multiple concurrent projects.
• Experience managing consultant/subcontractor procurement, contract negotiation and governance compliance.

Technical Skills

• Strong experience managing MEP construction, commissioning, QA/QC and project delivery functions.
• Strong understanding of Data Centre delivery, commissioning processes and quality management systems.
• Working knowledge of BIM for design coordination and VDC concepts.

Soft Skills

• Strong leadership capability, including managing teams under dual/matrix reporting lines.
• Excellent stakeholder and client facing communication skills.
• Strong problem solving skills, particularly in resolving on-site delivery and coordination issues.
