Demand Planner, Executive (Fresh Food - Perishable)
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Demand Planner to oversee forecasting and replenishment planning for fresh food and perishable categories. This role is responsible for ensuring optimal stock availability while minimizing wastage, stock expiry, and out-of-stock situations across stores.
The Demand Planner will work closely with Operations, Merchandising, Suppliers, Warehouse, and Logistics teams to improve forecast accuracy, inventory efficiency, and overall supply chain performance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Demand Forecasting & Planning
- Develop and maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly demand forecasts for fresh food and perishable categories.
- Analyze historical sales trends, seasonal demand, promotions, weather impact, festive periods, and store-specific patterns to improve forecast accuracy.
- Monitor sales performance and proactively adjust forecasts based on business trends and operational changes.
- Manage replenishment planning to ensure optimal inventory levels across all stores.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to align demand planning with business objectives.
2. Inventory & Wastage Management
- Monitor stock holding, shelf life, expiry risks, and inventory movement for perishable products.
- Drive initiatives to reduce wastage, markdowns, and stock expiry while maintaining product availability.
- Balance inventory levels with freshness and service level requirements.
- Identify slow-moving, aging, and overstock situations and recommend corrective actions.
- Support inventory optimization initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
- Work closely with suppliers to ensure consistent fulfillment performance and supply continuity.
- Monitor supplier fill rate, lead time, and delivery performance.
- Coordinate with suppliers and procurement teams regarding supply constraints, substitutions, and recovery plans during shortages.
- Escalate critical supply risks and recommend mitigation actions.
- Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers to support business operations.
4. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate with Merchandising and Category teams on promotions, assortment changes, new product launches, and product discontinuation planning.
- Work closely with Operations and Warehouse teams to ensure smooth replenishment execution.
- Support stores in improving ordering accuracy and inventory optimization.
- Coordinate with Logistics teams on delivery frequency and replenishment schedules.
- Ensure alignment between operational planning and business requirements.
5. Reporting & Data Analysis
- Prepare and present demand planning reports, forecast accuracy reports, service level analysis, and wastage reports.
- Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), including:
- Forecast Accuracy
- Fill Rate
- Out-of-Stock (OOS)
- Inventory Days Holding
- Identify root causes of operational issues and recommend continuous improvement actions.
- Provide insights and recommendations to support business decision-making.
6. Process Improvement
- Continuously improve existing ordering and replenishment processes.
- Support system enhancement and automation initiatives related to demand planning.
- Develop and maintain SOPs and best practices for fresh food planning and inventory management.
- Identify opportunities to improve planning efficiency and operational effectiveness.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Logistics, Statistics, Operations Management, or related fields.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in Demand Planning, Supply Chain, Inventory Planning, or Replenishment Planning.
- Experience in Fresh Food, FMCG, Retail, Convenience Store, Grocery, or Perishable categories is highly preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong analytical, forecasting, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, and data analysis.
- Familiar with ERP systems and replenishment planning systems.
- Good understanding of inventory management and supply chain operations.
- Experience in Power BI, SQL, or data visualization tools will be an added advantage.
Pay: From RM3,100.00 per month
