Job summary

UOB is seeking a skilled IT applications support professional in Malaysia to join InnoHub2. You will provide application support to business users, investigate incidents, and collaborate with the development team to ensure timely production releases.

The role requires five years in banking tech, strong SQL/ETL knowledge, and experience with Teradata, Oracle, Unix/Linux, and BI tools. You will participate in DR/BCM activities and capacity planning while delivering reliable financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Degree in computer science/engineering or related disciplines.
• Min 5 years of experience in application development and support in Banking/Finance.
• Experience on Unix/Windows platforms, batch scheduling tools, and SQL queries.
• Strong understanding of banking products, financial instruments, and regulatory reporting.
• Hands-on experience with Teradata, Hadoop/Cloudera, Hive, and Informatica.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide application support to various business users and resolve queries promptly.
• Resolve incidents to meet service level targets; manage event alerts.
• Reverse-engineer user queries to identify data logic and source systems.
• Analyze SQL queries, stored procedures, and data models to trace data lineage.

UOB Innovation Hub 2 (InnoHub2) is a UOB-wholly owned subsidiary and a Centre of Excellence based in Malaysia, providing Group Business Services (GBS) to support the UOB Group. Job Responsibilities

• Provide application support to various business users. Attend to business queries and business requests promptly. Follow through the business requests to a proper closure
• Work on timely resolution for reported incidents so as to meet service level targets. Incidents include failures & queries reported by business users and technical staff; event alerts automatically detected and reported by event monitoring tool
• Reverse-engineer user queries and reports to identify underlying data logic, source systems, and transformation rules.
• Analyze and interpret complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and data models to trace data lineage and logic.
• Review and troubleshoot ETL pipelines (Informatica, SSIS) to identify data quality issues, performance bottlenecks, or logic errors.
• Support data validation, reconciliation, and root cause analysis for data discrepancies in financial reports.
• Perform root cause analysis to identify permanent solution so as to prevent recurring incidents and to minimize the impact of incidents that cannot be prevented
• Ensure all incidents and problems are proactively managed - Prioritizing numerous issues of varying severity and escape issues as appropriate to necessary teams and management
• Collaborate with the development team in identifying resolutions and transitioning of releases into production environment
• Adopt standard Incident and Problem Management workflow and processes, i.e timely ticket, defect and incidents loggings including proper change management processes and quality issue/impacts emails
• Participate in DR/BCM activities or infrastructure related upgrade
• Responsible of capacity management. To monitor & analyse current performance and capacity data and forecast the capacity required by the applications ahead
• Aside from day-to-day support duties, there will be requirements to undertake other responsibilities such as management reporting & other centrally driven project initiatives as needed .

J ob Requirements

• Degree in computer science/engineering or related disciplines.
• Min 5 years of experience in application development and support environment in Banking Finance, ETL, Data warehouse, and business intelligence
• Individual must have working experience in Unix/Windows platforms, batch scheduling tools, Database query skills, BI Tools skillsets
• Strong understanding of banking products, financial instruments, and regulatory reporting.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, data dictionaries, and ETL job logs.
• Mandatory Technical skills : Teradata, Oracle / MS SQL, Unix/Linux, AS400, Control-M, Shell scripting
• Knowledge of ITIL of similar framework will be advantage
• Hands on Experiences in Teradata, Hadoop Big Data using Cloudera (CDH 5.8 or above), Hive, MS PBI , SSAS , Informatica
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
• Excellent knowledge of front to back banking business, finance, risk and accounting data across various sectors
• Excellent & proven Incident/Problem Management and organization skills a must
