Responsibilities

• Hardware & Server Maintenance: install, patrol, replace hardware and perform OS-level repairs.
• Network Device Maintenance: deploy and coordinate network equipment; conduct fault drills with carriers/IDC providers.
• Infrastructure & Facility Coordination: manage rack power, environmental checks, site coordination and drills.
• Asset Management & Cabling: track inventory, document server lists and perform structured cabling as needed.
• Virtual Infrastructure & Remote Support: manage VMs, IP provisioning, access control, and on-site coordination with vendors.

Employment: 12 months contract (renewable)

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a self-motivated and adaptable Data Center / Server Engineer based in Johor Bahru. In this role, you will be responsible for day-to-day data center operations, hardware and network maintenance, virtual infrastructure tasks, and facility coordination. The ideal candidate can work independently under tight deadlines, pick up new technologies quickly, and effectively communicate outcomes with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Hardware & Server Maintenance

• Installation & Handover: Execute server mounting, equipment patrols, and handover acceptance checks.
• Component-Level Maintenance: Dismantle servers for minimal configuration testing, perform on-site hardware component replacements, and manage out-of-warranty issues.
• Drill Exercises: Participate in server failure drill exercises to ensure operational readiness.
• Diagnostics & Triage: Diagnose pre-check failures, perform OS-level diagnostics (log inspection to determine root causes), and gather logs for pre-vendor escalation.
• System Restoration: Execute post-repair configurations (e.g., DHCP, disk mounting) and perform OS-level repairs.

3. Network Device Maintenance

• Deployment & Handover: Perform acceptance checks, deploy network equipment, and coordinate failure request services.
• Operations: Conduct equipment patrols, participate in failure drills, and coordinate directly with carriers or IDC providers.

4. Infrastructure & Facility Coordination

• Facility Operations: Coordinate rack power delivery, handle site environmental checks, and report facility abnormalities.
• Maintenance & Drills: Lead or assist in facility change/maintenance coordination, incident response, and environmental testing.

5. Asset Management & Cabling

• Inventory Control: Manage production inventory, spare parts, project assets, and maintain organized storerooms/cabinets.
• Documentation: Keep server lists, system records, and operational logs up to date.
• Structured Cabling: Perform ad-hoc structured cabling, labeling, and validate new cabling project acceptance.

6. Virtual Infrastructure & Remote Support

• VM Management: Handle internal ticket tasks to create, modify, or cancel Virtual Infrastructure hosts and VMs.
• Network & Access: Perform IP provisioning, manage network configurations, support VM handovers, and grant system access for log collection or configuration restoration.
• Local Coordination: Act as the on-site technical point of contact for third-party local suppliers, logistics teams, and internal client teams.
• Reporting: Maintain on-duty reports, technical documentation, and record archiving.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Minimum Diploma in Telecommunication, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience: Hands-on experience in Data Center operations, facility management, server hardware, and network equipment.
