Job summary

Rhee Analytics is seeking curious interns for a data analytics internship focused on financial markets. You will work with real market data across U.S. and Hong Kong listed companies, using Python, SQL, and Power Query to analyze, clean, and transform data.

You’ll gain hands-on experience by improving execution algorithms and performing back-tests while leveraging AI prompts to enhance workflows. Commitment is 10 weeks, salary commensurate with experience, based in Kuala Lumpur.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Python, SQL and Power Query; experience with data analytics appreciated.
• Interest in financial markets and interpreting statements (income, balance sheet, cash flow).
• No prior internship required; strong curiosity and motivation to learn.

Responsibilities

• Perform data analytics on financial market data.

About Us Rhee Analytics is a data analytics firm that provides market research and data analytics support to Rhee Capital, a licensed boutique asset management company based in Hong Kong, specializing in a combination of qualitative and quantitative investment strategies. We’re looking for 3-4 curious interns interested in data analytics as it relates to financial markets. You’ll gain hands-on experience working with real financial and market data across U.S. and Hong Kong listed companies.

This internship sits at the intersection of data, analytics, and investing, where you’ll learn how raw data is transformed into investment insights. Duties: Data Analytics

Use of Python scripts to retrieve and analyze data currently stored in MySQL Workbench.

Use/improve existing Python scripts to retrieve data from online sources and/or certain vendors with APIs.

Improve existing execution algorithms written in Python.

Use Power Query (M Code) to transform and present data in a clear, user-friendly format.

Perform data cleaning and preprocessing using DuckDB SQL.

Back-test certain strategies using DuckDB SQL or a similar statistical package.

Suitable use of effective Google Gemini (or similar generative A.I.) prompts to perform the above tasks.

Qualifications:

Proficient in using Python, SQL, and Power Query, with or without the assistance of A.I. prompts.

Detail oriented. Interest in learning about financial markets and/or interpreting financial statements (income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements).

No prior experience required — just strong curiosity, willingness to learn, and motivation to solve complex problems.
