Job summary

MR.DIY Group (M) Berhad in Malaysia seeks a data science professional to design and maintain forecasting models, evaluate accuracy, and develop what-if simulations to guide pricing, display and stock decisions.

You will collaborate with IT and business teams to ensure reliable data pipelines, translate requirements into analytics, and manage projects end-to-end. Strong Python/SQL skills and time series experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in a similar field
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or equivalent
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
• Hands-on experience in time series forecasting and predictive modeling
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset
• Solid understanding of Machine Learning concepts and techniques
• Proven experience in project management (good to have)
• Strong stakeholder management skills (good to have)
• Demonstrated critical and creative thinking abilities
• Effective problem-solving with practical solutions

Responsibilities

• Prediction and Forecast Models: Build and maintain forecasting models to support business planning and decision-making
• Model Evaluation: Evaluate model accuracy using appropriate metrics and continuously improve performance
• What-if Simulation: Develop simulation models to evaluate business scenarios and assess impact of pricing, display, and stock changes
• Allocation Optimization: Design optimization models for inventory allocation across stores balancing stock, demand and capacity
• Dashboarding and Analytics: Create and maintain analytics across platforms (e.g., dashboards) that drive business decisions
• Data & Collaboration: Work with data stakeholders to ensure reliable data pipelines and translate requirements into analytical solutions
• Stakeholder Management: Communicate and collaborate with IT and business teams
• Project Management (good to have): Manage end-to-end project delivery incl. scope, timelines, priorities
• Decision Making: Propose data-driven ideas and plan/execute initiatives
• Any Other Tasks as Assigned

Key Responsibilities:

• Prediction and Forecast Models

Requirements:

• Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in a similar field

• Possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience

• Strong proficiency in Python (e.g., libraries such as pandas, sklearn) and SQL

• Hands-on experience in time series forecasting and predictive modeling

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset

• Solid understanding of Machine Learning concepts and techniques

• Proven experience in project management, including planning, execution, and delivery (good to have)
