Job summary

Valiram in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Data Analyst to turn business data into actionable insights across the full data lifecycle, from source to gold layer. You will own semantic models and reporting with Power BI, Tableau, SSRS, and Crystal Reports, and provide L2 support for data issues.

Responsibilities

• Perform data validation and reconciliation across the full data lifecycle to ensure accuracy and consistency of reported figures.
• Develop, maintain, and automate recurring reports covering sales, inventory, AR, supply chain, and other metrics.
• Build and maintain dashboards and visualisations in Power BI and Tableau for business users and management.
• Develop and maintain semantic models: Power BI datasets, Tableau data sources, measures, row-level security, and metric definitions.
• Develop and support paginated and operational reports in Power BI Paginated (SSRS) and Crystal Reports.
• Write and optimise SQL queries against the cloud data warehouse to extract and transform data for analysis.
• Define the fact and dimension tables and sign off on the Gold layer requirements with Data Engineering.
• Act as L2 support for data-related issues and resolve reporting/semantic model defects.
• Gather reporting requirements from business users and translate them into technical specifications.
• Support ad-hoc data requests and investigations from stakeholders and management.
• Document solutions through data dictionaries, diagrams, and code comments.

Job Summary

The Data Analyst turns business data into clear, actionable insights that support operational and commercial decision-making. The role owns the semantic model and reporting layers, building and maintaining reports, dashboards, and semantic models across Power BI, Tableau, Power BI Paginated (SSRS), and Crystal Reports, and serves as the L2 front door for all data-related issues, with breadth across all business modules and the full data lifecycle from source to certified (gold) layer. Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform data validation and reconciliation across the full data lifecycle, from source systems through bronze/silver to certified (gold) tables, to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of reported figures.
• Develop, maintain, and automate recurring reports covering sales, inventory, AR, supply chain, and other key business metrics.
• Build and maintain interactive dashboards and visualisations in Power BI and Tableau for business users and management.
• Develop and maintain semantic models: Power BI datasets, Tableau data sources, measures, row-level security, and metric definitions.
• Develop and support paginated and operational reports in Power BI Paginated (SSRS) and Crystal Reports.
• Write and optimise SQL queries against the cloud data warehouse (Microsoft Fabric/Databricks) to extract and transform data for analysis.
• Specify certified (gold) layer requirements: define the fact and dimension tables the business needs and sign off on what Data Engineering builds.
• Act as L2 support for data-related issues: diagnose the layer at fault, resolve reporting and semantic model defects, and route source or pipeline issues to the owning team (Data Engineering, POS, ERP, etc.).
• Gather reporting requirements from business users and translate them into technical specifications.
• Support ad-hoc data requests and investigations from stakeholders and management.
• Document solutions through documentation, data dictionaries, diagrams, and code comments.

Requirements

• Education: at least a bachelor's degree in Data Science/Statistics/IT/Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent.
• Experience: fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
• Experience in a data analyst or reporting-related role, or in retail/e-commerce, is an advantage.
• Willing to work on rotation shift (Day Only)

Technical Skills

a. Proficient in SQL for querying and transforming data. Hands-on experience with at least one BI/visualisation tool (Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent); exposure to both is an advantage.

b. Familiarity with data warehousing, medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold), and ETL concepts. c. Exposure to paginated reporting tools (SSRS/Power BI Paginated, Crystal Reports) is an added advantage.

d. Working knowledge of Python or R for data analysis is an added advantage.

e. Understanding of statistical methods and basic forecasting techniques.
