Job summary

Columbia Asia Hospital - Batu Kawan in Penang is seeking a CSSD Technician responsible for maintaining sterility of packs, timely delivery of CSSD sets to wards and OR, and ensuring all sterilization equipment is well maintained.

The role requires at least 2 years in CSSD, a certified sterilization course, basic computer skills, and ability to write and speak English and Bahasa Malaysia; candidates should be detail-oriented with strict infection control practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years working in a CSSD related role.
• Preferably have attended a certified course in Sterilization techniques
• Basic computer skill required
• Able to write and speak in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sterility integrity of the sterile packs.
• Responsible for the timely delivery of CSSD sets to wards and OR.
• Ensure the CSSD washer, disinfector and sterilizer are well maintained.
• Ensure strict infection control practice is in place.
• Carry out the chemical and biological tests daily/ weekly.
• Warm up the machines daily and perform the Bowle Dick test before sterilization of sets.
• Check all parameters for sterilization are achieved.
• Monitor and maintain record of each cycle.
• Assist in the collection of soiled/ used instruments from respective wards/ departments.
• Ensure proper recording and checking of sets and instrument received.
• Ensure all sets are check for completeness as per checklist.
• Maintain adequate inventory of sterile supplies.
• Ensure timely distribution of clean sets.
• Perform weekly instruments inventory.
• Check the temperature and humidity of the sterile store daily and report to OR charge nurse when need arises.
• Check weekly the shelf life/ expiry date of sterile sets/ items in the sterile store.
• Participate in QA activities pertaining to CSSD.
• Perform any other duties as assigned or directed.
