Job summary

Pivotal Systems (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Finance/Costing Controller to prepare monthly financial reports, analyze costs, and support profitability decisions. The role requires strong accounting knowledge and leadership to drive process improvements and ensure accuracy in costing and reporting.

You will interact with procurement, manufacturing, and finance teams to monitor costs, perform variance analyses, and support closing activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience, preferably in a managerial role.
• Professional qualifications (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent) are an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards, taxation, and financial regulations.
• Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
• Excellent analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English, Mandarin to effectively communicate with our diverse client base and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver monthly financial reports, including cost center analysis, variance reports, and manufacturing performance metrics.
• Monitor and analyze BOM cost, production costs, material usage variances, and overhead absorption to ensure accurate product costing, support pricing strategies, and assess profitability.
• Monitor vendor aging reports, reconcile supplier statements, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate with procurement, warehouse, and vendors to resolve issues.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including accruals, AP reconciliations, inventory adjustments, and related journal entries.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and SOPs, and identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reporting efficiency, cost transparency, and operational effectiveness.
