Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Consumer Credit Manager to develop, implement, and manage the credit risk and consumer lending framework for the MVNO business in Malaysia. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.
• 8-10 years in consumer lending or credit management with 3-5 years in a managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of consumer lending/credit management in Malaysia.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve consumer credit policy, scoring models and approval frameworks for postpaid and device financing.
• Manage end-to-end consumer credit lifecycle including assessments, approvals, collections and recoveries.
• Monitor portfolio credit quality, delinquency, provisioning and recovery performance.
• Ensure compliance with Malaysian consumer credit regulations (BNM, MCMC, and others).
• Partner with Sales, Product and Customer Experience to balance risk appetite with growth.
• Lead and develop the credit management team.
• Manage relationships with external collection agencies and credit bureaus (CTOS, CCRIS).
• Drive improvement of credit systems, scorecards and reporting tools.

The Consumer Credit Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and managing the credit risk and consumer lending framework for the MVNO business in Malaysia, ensuring sound credit assessment, collections and recovery practices that balance business growth with acceptable risk exposure. The role requires deep knowledge of consumer lending and consumer credit management in the Malaysian market and works closely with the CFO and business teams to protect the financial health of the business while supporting a positive customer experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve the consumer credit policy, credit scoring models and approval frameworks for postpaid and device financing/instalment plans


• Manage the end-to-end consumer credit lifecycle, including credit assessment, approval limits, collections, recoveries and write-off processes.


• Monitor and report on portfolio credit quality, delinquency, bad debt provisioning and recovery performance, ensuring compliance with MFRS 9/relevant accounting standards.


• Ensure compliance with Malaysian consumer credit regulations and guidelines, including requirements set by Bank Negara Malaysia, MCMC and other relevant authorities.


• Partner with Sales, Product and Customer Experience teams to balance credit risk appetite with business growth and customer acquisition targets.


• Lead, coach and develop the credit management team, building capability in credit assessment, collections and risk analytics.


• Manage relationships with external collection agencies, credit reporting agencies (e.g. CTOS, CCRIS) and debt recovery partners.


• Drive continuous improvement of credit systems, scorecards and reporting tools to improve risk decisioning speed and accuracy.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.


• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in consumer lending or consumer credit management, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role, ideally within telecommunications, banking or consumer finance.


• Strong knowledge of consumer lending and consumer credit management practices in Malaysia, including credit assessment, scoring, collections and recovery.


• Familiarity with relevant Malaysian regulatory requirements governing consumer credit and lending.


• Proven experience managing credit risk portfolios, including delinquency management, provisioning and bad debt recovery.


• Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, with experience building and developing a credit management team.


• Strong analytical, problem-solving and data-driven decision-making skills.


• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and partner with the CFO and senior leadership.


• Prior experience in banking, consumer lending or telecommunications


• Experience working with credit bureaus and collection agencies in Malaysia (e.g. CTOS, CCRIS).


• Exposure to credit scoring model development or credit systems implementation.


• Experience working in a multinational or matrixed organization.


• Professional certification in credit or risk management is an advantage.
