Job summary

Brooks Automation is seeking an Electrical Component Engineer to join our Pasir Gudang, Johor Bahru team. You will develop and sustain robot and automation system controls, focusing on component lifecycle management and obsolescence mitigation in collaboration with Electrical Engineering, PCB Design, and Supply Chain.

The role involves supplier coordination, risk assessment using SiliconExpert, and ensuring ongoing component availability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience on component engineering, SiliconExpert, Lifecycle management, BOM analysis and scrubbing and alternate component validation.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and external suppliers.
• Ability to work effectively in a global, cross-functional environment and build productive relationships across multiple regions.
• Willing to attend occasional early morning or evening calls to support global projects and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Learn complex systems quickly and work independently.
• Conduct lifecycle risk assessment using SiliconExpert.
• Perform BOM scrubs to identify Obsolete, NRND, single-source risks and supply chain vulnerabilities.
• Evaluate alternate components for form, fit and function and prepare technical comparisons.
• Support ECOs and MCOs.
• Collaborate with Engineering, PCB Design, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and Suppliers.
