Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in special needs education, teaching assistance or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Understanding of diverse learning difficulties including autism and other disabilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, with clear explanations and active listening.
• Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and adapt to changing needs.
• Basic safeguarding, health and safety knowledge in educational settings.
• Ongoing professional development in special needs education.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with special educational needs.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet individual learning styles and abilities.
• Assist with personal care needs, mobility and daily living skills where appropriate.
• Develop and implement strategies to support behavioural, emotional and social development.
• Monitor and record student progress with detailed observations.
• Collaborate with teachers to prepare learning materials and adapted resources.
• Communicate with parents and carers regarding progress and strategies.
• Assist with transitions between activities and settings, ensuring consistency.
