Qualifications

• Electrical or Mechanical Engineering background with relevant qualifications in datacenter or mission-critical environments.
• Proven experience leading commissioning delivery on datacenter or mission-critical projects.
• Experience leading engineers, commissioning teams, contractors and vendors.
• Confidence when working directly with clients, consultants and project stakeholders.
• APAC project experience preferred; relocation to the region will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Oversee commissioning delivery across the Malaysian operation as its project portfolio grows.
• Provide technical leadership across electrical, mechanical, HVAC, controls and other critical datacenter systems.
• Lead commissioning activities from planning and pre-functional testing through handover.
• Collaborate with engineers and on-site teams to troubleshoot issues and resolve deficiencies.
• Engage with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors and project teams through commissioning and handover.
• Partner with senior leadership on team development, resource planning and future direction.

Job description

An Australian-founded datacenter commissioning specialist is looking for a Commissioning Lead to help develop its Malaysian operation.

The business already has a team delivering work in Malaysia. As it expands, it needs someone who can spend time with engineers on site, maintain high technical and delivery standards, and work closely with senior leadership on the next stage of growth.

This could suit an experienced Commissioning Manager ready for wider responsibility, or a technical leader who also brings the ability to develop client relationships and support business growth.

What You'll Be Doing

• Oversee commissioning delivery across the Malaysian operation as its project portfolio grows.
• Provide technical leadership across electrical, mechanical, HVAC, controls and other critical datacenter systems.
• Lead commissioning activities from commissioning planning and pre-functional testing through final handover.
• Work closely with engineers and commissioning teams on site to troubleshoot technical issues and resolve commissioning deficiencies.
• Work closely with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors and project teams throughout commissioning and handover.
• Work with senior leadership on team development, resource planning and the future direction of the Malaysian operation.

For someone with the right commercial experience, the remit could also include business development, client relationship management and wider operational responsibility.

What we are looking for:

• Electrical or Mechanical Engineering background, with relevant technical qualifications and experience within datacenter or mission-critical environments.
• Proven experience leading commissioning delivery on datacenter or mission-critical projects.
• Experience leading engineers, commissioning teams, contractors and specialist vendors.
• Confidence working directly with clients, consultants and project stakeholders.
• Previous Asian / APAC project experience would be useful, although candidates relocating to the region will also be considered.
• A willingness to work predominantly on site and travel as required across Malaysia.
• Johor Bahru is the preferred base, with regular attendance on project sites.
• Commitment to living and working in Malaysia is an important part of the opportunity.

Candidates currently based overseas who are seriously considering relocation to Malaysia will also be considered.
