Job summary

Inuka Partners is seeking a Commercial Manager in Kuala Lumpur to lead complex financial modelling for renewable energy and infrastructure investments and support transactions, bids and project development.

You will build and refine project finance models, perform valuation analyses, and provide risk-adjusted commercial insights to senior stakeholders. The role expects 7–10+ years of relevant experience and a strong command of Excel and VBA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative field.
• 7-10+ years of relevant experience in project finance, banking, or energy/infrastructure.
• Expert-level Excel and financial modelling skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex financial modelling for projects, bids, and investments.
• Perform DCF, NPV, IRR, and debt sizing analyses.
• Develop scenario and sensitivity analyses to evaluate risks and value drivers.
• Support development, bids, M&A, financing, and due diligence processes.
• Translate inputs into robust financial models and ensure auditability.
• Review and improve models, maintaining modelling standards.
• Provide commercial insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Mentor junior modelling team members.

The opportunity

Our client is a leading clean energy platform seeking a Commercial Manager based in Malaysia. The role will lead complex financial modelling and provide commercial analysis to support investment decisions, bids, financing, M&A, and project development.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain project finance, valuation, bid, and portfolio financial models.
• Lead DCF, NPV, IRR, debt sizing, capital structure, and return analysis.
• Develop scenario, sensitivity, and downside analysis to assess project risks and value drivers.
• Support project development, bids, acquisitions, financing, and due diligence processes.
• Translate commercial, technical, legal, tax, and financing inputs into robust financial models.
• Review and improve models, ensuring accuracy, auditability, and strong modelling standards.
• Provide commercial insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Support and develop junior financial modelling team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• 7-10+ years of experience in project finance, investment banking, infrastructure, renewable energy, private equity, transaction services, or similar roles.
• Expert-level Excel and financial modelling skills, including building complex models from scratch.
• Strong understanding of project finance structures, debt modelling, DCF valuation, and investment appraisal.
• Experience in renewable energy, power, infrastructure, BESS, solar, or corporate PPA environments preferred.
• Experience supporting live transactions, bids, M&A, debt financing, refinancing, or financial close.
• Strong commercial judgement with the ability to challenge assumptions and communicate risk-adjusted recommendations.
• VBA/Macros and advanced analytics experience advantageous.
