Job summary

Mission Consultancy Services Malaysia is seeking a diligent Collection Officer in Malaysia to manage overdue accounts and drive debt recovery. You will contact clients, discuss repayment plans, and advise on options while maintaining accurate customer records and preparing statements for banks and credit agencies.

You will negotiate terms, inform customers of potential actions for non-payment, and handle inbound inquiries.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 months experience in related role.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and persuasion skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel/Google Sheets.
• Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Capable of critical thinking and sound judgment.
• Education: SPM, Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, Postgraduate Diploma, or Professional Degree.

Responsibilities

• Make calls to clients via phone to discuss overdue payments and negotiate repayment plans.
• Negotiate payment schedules with customers to align with their financial situation while ensuring debt recovery.
• Advise customers on various payment options and potential further actions for debt collection.
• Maintain customer files, recording all contact details and information about their debt.
• Prepare statements for credit departments and banks when payment agreements are not met.
• Write letters to inform customers about debts and to credit agencies, insurance companies, lawyers, and employers if payment agreements are not met.
• Answer incoming calls from customers and other individuals, addressing queries and providing assistance.

As a Collection Officer, you will play a crucial role in managing overdue bills and facilitating the collection of payments. Your responsibilities include contacting clients to discuss their debts, negotiating payment terms, and advising on various repayment options. If an agreement cannot be reached, you will take necessary actions to collect outstanding debts.

Key Responsibilities

• Make Calls to Clients : Contact clients via phone (home, work, or mobile) to discuss their overdue payments and negotiate repayment plans.
• Negotiate Payment Schedules : Work with customers to establish payment schedules that align with their financial situation while ensuring debt recovery.
• Advise Customers : Provide information on various payment options and, if necessary, inform customers about potential further actions for debt collection.
• Maintain Customer Files : Update and manage customer files, recording all contact details and the information provided to the customer regarding their debt.
• Prepare Statements : Create statements for credit departments and banks when customers do not meet payment agreements or fail to establish new ones.
• Write Letters : Draft letters to inform customers about their debts and to credit agencies, insurance companies, lawyers, and employers if payment agreements are not met.
• Answer Phones : Handle incoming calls from customers and other individuals, addressing queries and providing assistance.
