Job summary

Maybank is seeking a COBOL Developer to design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe COBOL applications that support card products, including credit and debit services. The role focuses on reliable, secure processing of card transactions and lifecycle management.

You'll work with IT teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors to implement and enhance card systems in a mission-critical environment, with opportunities to learn modernizations and optimize batch and online processes.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, IMS, and VSAM.
• System Integration skills – Integrating mainframe applications with internal and external systems.
• Performance tuning & optimization – Optimize COBOL code, batch jobs, and system processes.
• Problem solving & troubleshooting – Analyze and resolve production/system issues efficiently.
• Banking & enterprise systems knowledge – Familiarity with banking operations and transaction processing.
• Effective communication with stakeholders, teams, and vendors.
• Willingness to learn emerging technologies and modernization initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain COBOL programs for cards systems; ensure batch jobs and online transactions run reliably.
• Integrate mainframe applications with internal systems, databases, and external interfaces.
• Conduct unit, integration, and regression testing; ensure compliance with security and regulatory standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues; coordinate with IT operations for deployment and monitoring.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions with analysts and managers.
• Maintain up-to-date technical documentation; adhere to IT policies and regulatory standards.
• Analyze and optimize COBOL code, batch jobs, and system processes for efficiency and scalability.
• Participate in code reviews, team discussions, and learning initiatives; suggest improvements.
