Job summary

DXC Technology is seeking aSenior COBOL Developer to support COBOL/mainframe applications in a fully on-site role at IOI City, Putrajaya. The candidate will enhance configurations, develop new features, and ensure system stability and performance.

The role requires strong COBOL/mainframe knowledge, JCL, CICS, DB2, and TSO, with a background in finance or insurance preferred. ITIL certs are a plus and a Bachelor’s or Master’s in IT is required.

Qualifications

Job Description

We are looking for a COBOL Developer to support application development, enhancement, and production support activities within a mainframe environment. The role involves improving system configurations, developing new features, and ensuring application stability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Support business operations by enhancing system configurations and developing new features for COBOL / mainframe applications
• Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot system or production issues; identify root causes and provide recommendations to prevent recurrence
• Ensure application performance, quality, and responsiveness
• Maintain and improve code quality, including automation in testing processes
• Analyze technology trends and identify opportunities to enhance system efficiency and business productivity
• Contribute to and maintain accurate documentation for development and production support processes
• Ensure documentation and procedures are up to date and optimized for efficiency

Work Experience

• Senior: More than 6 years of development experience; strong understanding of development processes and prior experience as a technical lead
• Experience in supporting production systems and business users will be an advantage.
• Experience in finance, banking, or insurance industries is preferred.

Academic Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in information technology or a related field
• Alternative learning paths (e.g., bootcamps) may be considered
• ITIL certification is an advantage

Required Technical Skills

• Proven experience as a COBOL Developer or in a similar role
• Strong understanding of mainframe technologies and environments (batch and online processing)
• Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and TSO
• Understanding of legacy system modernization techniques
• Familiarity with IBM RTC tools is a plus
• Basic knowledge of SQL
