Job summary

Cigna is seeking a Cloud Engineer to provide day‑to‑day support for a hybrid cloud estate, primarily on AWS with multi-cloud elements. You will work with VMs, containers (EKS), and automation to improve reliability and efficiency.

You will engage with architecture and security teams, participate in on-call duties, and help migrate on‑prem services to cloud while driving cost optimisation and governance.

Qualifications

• Strong AWS experience from an infrastructure support perspective in a large enterprise environment.
• Azure experience is preferred; multi-cloud interest beyond AWS.
• Terraform experience is a must, including infrastructure as code.
• Scripting in Python, Bash or PowerShell.
• Containerisation experience with EKS or equivalent managed Kubernetes service.
• Good understanding of cloud security, IAM, patching and vulnerability management.
• Backup and data protection in an enterprise environment; resilience focus.
• Experience migrating on‑premises services to cloud.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools.
• Cloud billing/licensing awareness and cost optimization.
• Practical use of AI/automation tooling in cloud context.

Responsibilities

• Provide second- and third-level support for AWS workloads and other cloud platforms as they come into support.
• Support existing application VMs and containerised workloads (EKS) including patching, backup, monitoring.
• Respond to incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and drive resolution.
• Build the support model for new workloads including runbooks, monitoring, alerting, and handover criteria.
• Collaborate with architecture/project teams to ensure security, supportability, and production readiness.
• Assist architecture team during quieter periods with design input, build work, and POCs.
• Support cloud security actions: patching, vulnerability remediation, hardening, audit evidence.
• Support backup and data protection with recovery testing and resilience work.
• Maintain infrastructure as code in Terraform and automate repeatable tasks with scripting.
