Job summary

Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang is seeking a dynamic Chief Engineer, RSR & GSH to lead the engineering team across Shangri-La Rasa Sayang and Shangri-La Golden Sands, Penang.

You will oversee maintenance, safety, and compliance, manage budgets, and drive preventative maintenance while delivering superior hospitality experiences.

Applicants should have a mechanical/electrical engineering background, strong leadership, and fluency in English, Malay, and Chinese.

Qualifications

• Holder of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering qualification or equivalent.
• Good command of English, Malay and Chinese.
• Minimum 2 years experience, preferably in hotel industry.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of facility management, fire safety, FF&E, and in-house projects.
• Self-starter, tactful, goal-oriented and team builder.
• Self-driven, challenges status quo.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance and improvements of buildings and equipment.
• Monitor equipment and ensure smooth operation.

Chief Engineer, RSR & GSH

This is a Clustered postion for Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang & Shangri-La Golden Sands, Penang.

As a Chief Engineer, RSR & GSH, we rely on you to

• Responsible for the general administration of the Engineering Dept, including proper maintenance and repair of all buildings, fixtures, fittings and equipment as well as technical improvements, preventive maintenance and utilities consumption control.
• Monitor and maintain all equipment, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning
• Support budget planning and expenditure control for maintenance and engineering projects to optimize resource allocation
• Ensure all facilities comply with local regulations and internal standards by conducting regular audits and implementing corrective actions
• Coordinate and participate in crisis management and emergency response activities to mitigate risks and ensure swift resolution
• Develop and deliver training programs related to emergency procedures to enhance team readiness and compliance
• Apply expertise in Environment Health, Occupational Health and Safety Assessment, and Loss Prevention to uphold workplace safety and regulatory compliance.

We Are Looking For Someone Who

• Holder of relevant Mechanical & Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification
• Good command of English, Malay and Chinese.
• Mininum 2 years working experience, preferably in the Hotel Industry.
• Has a great Leadership & Interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of facility management, fire safety, furniture, fixtures & equipment, able to handle in-house projects.
