Job summary

KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital in Ipoh seeks a nursing attendant to deliver basic nursing care in alignment with hospital goals. You will perform shifts, observe patients, and communicate with families to ensure comfort and safety throughout care activities.

You will also assist colleagues with admissions, transfers and discharges, maintain clean work areas, and support daily unit operations during rounds and meetings.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic nursing care that aligns with the hospital's vision, mission, philosophy, goals and objectives.
• Notify nursing leaders of any situations that impact the quality of care.
• Obtain ward report and assignment at the beginning of each shift and perform tasks as directed by the Unit Manager or Senior Registered Nurse.
• Conduct regular nursing rounds to assess patients’ needs and communicate with them and their families.
• Assist trained staff in aspects of nursing care including patient comfort, safety, nutrition, hygiene, admission, transfer and discharge; clean and disinfect equipment and update charges.
• Attend meetings held by the service and ensure smooth operation of the unit.
• Escort and wheel patients back to their cars after dialysis and dispatch specimens to the laboratory when needed.

Job description

ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT

1. Provide basic nursing care that aligns with the vision, mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of the nursing services and the hospital.

2. Notify the nursing leaders of any situations that impact the quality of care.

3. Obtain ward report and assignment at the beginning of each shift and perform additional tasks as assigned by the Unit Manager or Senior Registered Nurse.

4. Daily routine:

Conducts regular nursing rounds to assess patients’ needs and communicate with them and their families.

Prepares and tidies beds, reclining chairs before arrival of patient’s and linens, and as needed.

Provides drinks for patients and collects cups and meal trays after use.

Keeps the patients feeling comfortable and cheerful by giving them blankets if they are cold, positioning them.

Keeps the unit area, store, fridge and its facilities clean and tidy.

Disinfects beds and equipment, dialysis machines, reclining chairs, and cardiac tables after use.

Answer phone calls and relay messages.

Attendants to patients call the bell promptly.

Escort and wheel patients back to their cars after dialysis.

Dispatches specimens to the laboratory and collects results.

5. Assists the trained staff in various aspects:

Carried out of nursing care, such as patient comfort, safety, nutrition, hygiene, admission, transfer and discharge,

Cleans and disinfects the trolley and instruments after use and stores them properly.

Records the daily charges for the items used in the unit and updates the patients’ charges accordingly.

Lifts, turns, and positions patients safely and comfortably using the correct body mechanics.
