Job summary

GC PACKAGING SDN. BHD. in Malaysia seeks a CAM/CNC programmer with foundational milling/turning knowledge and CAD software familiarity. You will create and modify CAM programs, select tools, set parameters, and verify toolpaths while collaborating with senior staff.

Fresh graduates are welcome. The role includes potential involvement in tool-life improvements and process optimizations within a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Certificate/ diploma/ degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or CNC.
• Basic knowledge of CNC machining and manufacturing processes.
• Able to read engineering drawings and tolerances.
• Basic knowledge of G-code/M-code; advantage.
• Experience with CAM software such as Mastercam, NX CAM, ZW3D or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify CAM programs and CNC toolpaths from CAD drawings and 3D models.
• Read 2D engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and specifications.
• Generate CNC programs using CAM software.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, holders, workholding and strategies under guidance.
• Set spindle speed, feed rate, depth of cut, and step-over.
• Perform toolpath simulation and verification for collisions and errors.
• Assist in preparing CNC programs for milling machines.
• Support CNC setup, prove-out, and first-piece production as required.
• Work with machinists to resolve machining, tooling, and programming issues.
• Make program adjustments based on actual machining results and feedback.
• Maintain CAM files, CNC programs, tool lists, setup sheets, and documentation.
• Follow procedures, engineering standards, and safety requirements.
• Assist CAM/CNC personnel with cycle-time reduction and tool-life improvement.

Job description

Create and modify CAM programs and CNC toolpaths based on CAD drawings, 3D models, and engineering requirements.

Read and understand 2D engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and specifications.

Generate CNC programs using the company's designated CAM software.

Select appropriate cutting tools, holders, workholding methods, and machining strategies under guidance from senior staff.

Set appropriate cutting parameters such as spindle speed, feed rate, depth of cut, and step-over.

Perform toolpath simulation and verification to identify potential collisions, machining errors, and incorrect tool movements.

Assist in preparing CNC programs for milling machines.

Support CNC machine setup, program prove-out, and first-piece production when required.

Work with machinists and operators to resolve machining, tooling, and programming issues.

Make program adjustments based on actual machining results and feedback from production.

Maintain and organize CAM files, CNC programs, tool lists, setup sheets, and machining documentation.

Follow company procedures, engineering standards, and safety requirements.

Assist senior CAM/CNC personnel with cycle-time reduction, tool-life improvement, and machining process improvement.

Technical Scope:

Basic CNC milling/turning knowledge.

Familiarity with 3-axis, 4-axis, or 5-axis machining.

Basic knowledge of tooling and cutting conditions.

Experience with CNC machine setup or machining is an advantage.

Familiarity with CAD software is an advantage.

Job Requirements

Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Machining, CNC Technology, or a related field.

Basic knowledge of CNC machining and manufacturing processes.

Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

Basic knowledge of G-code/M-code and CNC machine operation is an advantage.

Experience with CAM software such as Mastercam, NX CAM, ZW3D or equivalent is an advantage.

Basic understanding of cutting tools, workholding, feeds and speeds, and machining processes.
