Job summary

Medtronic in Kulim, Kedah, Malaysia is seeking a Calibration Technician to join our manufacturing team. You will perform precise calibrations and maintenance on test equipment, ensuring accuracy for clinical research and product testing.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are essential in this regulated environment. The role requires 2–3 years of experience in manufacturing, proficiency with Minitab, and English and Malay language skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical, Electrical/Electronic, Industrial, Mechanical, Materials, Chemical engineering or related technical discipline.
• 2–3 years of experience in manufacturing, preferably medical devices or regulated industries.
• Hands-on experience with Minitab for data analysis and SPC.
• Experience with Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Performs calibration and preventive maintenance on measuring and test equipment.
• Sets up test equipment and conducts tests on performance and reliability of machinery.
• Maintains, tests, troubleshoots, calibrates, and repairs circuits and analytical equipment.
• Develops calibration procedures, logs and technical reports with recommendations.
• Coordinates calibration with outside contractors for equipment.
• Selects and procures instrument spare parts to minimize downtime.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

• Performs precise calibrations and preventive and corrective maintenance on measuring and test equipment, systems, instruments, tools, gauges and fixtures and the calibration and validation of test and data analysis equipment, and systems used for clinical research, trials and product testing.




• Sets up test equipment and conducts tests on performance and reliability of mechanical structural or electromechanical equipment.




• Maintains, tests, troubleshoots, calibrates, and repairs a variety of circuits, components, analytical equipment and instrumentation for laboratory and manufacturing equipment.




• Develops calibration operating procedures, logs, protocols and/or documentation for instruments and may prepare technical reports with recommendations for solutions to technical problems.




• Selects, specifies, maintain and/or procures instrument spare parts and purchase of components to minimize machine downtime.




• Analyzes results and may develop test specifications and electrical schematics.




• Coordinates calibration with outside contractors for equipment that cannot be maintained internally.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required in technical fields such as Biomedical, Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline.




• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in manufacturing environment, preferably in medical devices or other regulated industries.




• Hands-on experience using Minitab for data analysis and Statistical Process Control (SPC) implementation.




• Experience in Lean Six Sigma methodology and continuous improvement programs.




• Strong written and verbal proficiency in English and Malay.




• Ability and willingness to travel internationally for extended periods, typically ranging from 2 to 6 months or longer, depending on on-the-job training needs.
