Job summary

CHINA CONSTRUCTION YANGTZE RIVER (M) SDN. BHD. is looking for a drafter to produce and refine detailed shop drawings for architectural, structural, and M&E works on a major Penang project.

The role requires updating drawings for IFC changes, client comments, and on-site conditions to ensure alignment with construction needs. You will conduct site measurements, coordinate with multiple disciplines, and support the submission and approval process, while maintaining document control and drawing

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture.
• Experience drafting shop drawings for large industrial plants.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office for drawing management.

Responsibilities

• Draft, revise, and detail shop drawings for architectural, structural, and related disciplines.
• Update drawings based on IFC drawings, design changes, and site conditions.
• Assist with drawing submissions and revisions based on client and consultant feedback.
• Verify drawing information (numbers, title blocks, revisions, dates) for compliance.
• Coordinate drawings with project departments and subcontractors; draft detail and section drawings.
• Assist in preparing detailed design and as-built drawings.

Job description

Based on initial blueprints, technical specifications, and design changes provided by the design consultant, you will create and refine detailed drawings and node details directly applicable to on-site construction. You will conduct thorough on-site measurements, closely monitor construction progress, and promptly update and prepare as-built drawings to ensure consistency between drawings and actual on-site dimensions. You will collaborate with structural, architectural to check for errors, omissions, and discrepancies in drawings and provide reasonable modification suggestions.

Key responsibilities

Responsible for drafting, revising, and detailing shop drawings for architectural, structural, and other related disciplines, ensuring timely completion in accordance with project requirements;

Responsible for updating and adjusting drawings based on IFC drawings, design changes, consultant comments, and actual site conditions to ensure alignment between the drawings and on-site construction needs;

Assist project technical staff with the drawing submission and approval process, and promptly revise drawings and provide responses based on feedback from the client, PMC, and discipline consultants;

Responsible for verifying basic drawing information—such as numbering, title blocks, revision status, dates, and formatting—to ensure submissions comply with project document management and approval requirements;

Coordinate drawings with various project departments and local subcontractors, and promptly draft relevant detail, plan, and section drawings to meet on-site construction requirements;

Assist in the preparation of detailed design drawings and as-built drawings;

About you

Diploma (D3) or Bachelor's degree (S1) or higher in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field

At least 3 years of experience in on-site shop drawing design for large industrial plants

Proficient in AutoCAD with ability to quickly and skillfully draw and modify construction drawings and detailed node drawings

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) for daily drawing filing and management
