Job summary

MajuHome, based in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur, is seeking a Buyer/Merchandiser on a full-time basis to bridge sourcing and sales. You will identify suppliers, curate assortments, and manage inventories to maximise profitability and brand strength.

You will analyse market trends and customer preferences to inform purchasing decisions, negotiate favourable terms, and collaborate with merchandising teams to optimise displays and campaigns.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Buyer/Merchandiser or related procurement role in retail or consumer goods
• Strong sourcing and supplier management skills
• Ability to analyse sales data, trends and customer preferences for strategic buying
• Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable terms
• Experience with inventory management and analytics tools
• Excellent communication and cross-department collaboration skills
• Tertiary qualification in Business, Retail Management or Supply Chain preferred

About the role

MajuHome is seeking a talented Buyer/Merchandiser to join our dynamic team on a full-time basis based in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur. This is a strategic position that plays a crucial role in our retail operations, bridging the gap between product sourcing and customer satisfaction. As Buyer/Merchandiser, you will be responsible for identifying market opportunities, negotiating with suppliers, and curating product selections that drive sales and enhance our brand reputation. This role is integral to MajuHome's success in the competitive home furnishings and consumer products sector, directly impacting our inventory management, profitability, and customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Home Decor and Household category buying
• Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and negotiate favourable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules to optimise procurement costs
• Research market trends, competitor offerings, and consumer preferences to inform product selection and purchasing decisions
• Develop and maintain product assortments that align with customer demand and brand positioning
• Manage inventory levels by analysing sales data, forecasting demand, and coordinating stock replenishment across retail locations
• Collaborate with merchandising teams to plan product displays, seasonal campaigns, and promotional activities that maximise sales
• Monitor product performance metrics and adjust buying strategies based on sales analysis and customer feedback
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring quality standards and timely delivery of products
• Prepare and present buying reports, forecasts, and market analyses to senior management
• Ensure compliance with company policies, budgetary constraints, and procurement procedures

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience as a Buyer, Merchandiser, or similar procurement role within the retail or consumer products industry
• Strong knowledge of product sourcing, supplier management, and supply chain operations
• Demonstrated ability to analyse sales data, market trends, and consumer behaviour to inform strategic purchasing decisions
• Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure competitive pricing and favourable supplier terms
• Proficiency with inventory management systems, spreadsheet applications, and retail analytics software
• Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across departments
• A keen eye for product quality, design, and market relevance
• Tertiary qualification in Business, Retail Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred
• Familiarity with the home furnishings or consumer goods sector is advantageous
