Job summary

FLEXTRONICS TECHNOLOGY (PENANG) SDN BHD in Prai, Penang is seeking a Buyer Direct to coordinate procurement of direct materials, components and equipment to support production. Responsibilities

• Maintain relations with the suppliers.
• Place orders for necessary raw materials and purchased parts according to production requirements.
• Receive and handle order confirmations.
• Check purchase orders and adjust them according to production plan changes.
• Track shipments and urge if needed.
• Regularly check stocks to avoid overstock.
• Minimize obsolescence with weekly checks of reports.
• Coordinate with freight forwarders and warehouses for transport.
• Resolve debit/credit issues and approve invoices for payment.
• Record procurement documents and maintain records.
• Ensure active components meet production needs on time.
• Review requisitions and MRP output.
• Negotiate with vendors for price, delivery and quality.
• Escalate when appropriate and manage supplier performance.

Job description

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Buyer Direct located in Prai, Penang.

This role will be coordinating activities involved with procuring direct materials, components and equipment.

What a typical day looks like:

• Maintaining relations with the suppliers.
• Placing orders for necessary raw materials and purchased parts according to the requirements of the production.
• Receiving and handling the confirmations.
• Checking the purchase orders and modifying them according to the changes in the production plan with the help of the Shortage List and the Open Purchase Order List.
• Tracking shipments, urging them if needed.
• Regular, weekly check of the stocks, avoiding overstock.
• Minimizing the risk of obsolescence with the help of the weekly check of the obsolete report.
• Correspondence with the freight forwarders, warehouses, and in case organizing the transportation.
• Dealing with claims, settling debit and credit issues.
• Filing and recording all necessary documents.
• Checking the inventory of critical materials (personally if needed) according to the Shortage List.
• Getting in touch with the right warehouse personnel and having the discrepancy modified if there is any inventory discrepancies.
• Assuring all active components according to production needs, in time, for the accord price in the request.
• Reviews requisitions and MRP output.
• Confers with vendors to obtain product information such as price, availability and delivery schedule.
• Orders, reschedules and cancels material based on requisitions and MRP output.
• Maintains procurement records such as items purchased, costs, delivery and inventories.
• Manages supplier to price, delivery and quality expectations and escalates when appropriate.
• Approves invoices for payment.
• Investigation inventory levels.
• Monitors the movement of materials through the production cycle.
• Maintains procurement records, reports and metrics.
