Job description

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Process Development Director located in Prai, Penang.

Oversees the activities related to the technical support and process development engineering functions of a manufacturing area. Plans and implements the development of new and scale-up process formulas. Establishes operating equipment specifications and acts as a liaison with product design and development to ensure processes and designs are compatible. Directs efforts to achieve cost effectiveness and improved product quality. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

What a typical day looks like

Direct and control the activities of a broad functional area through several senior Manufacture engineering managers involved in activities related to process engineering capabilities and statistical process control systems.

Organize and guide Project/Program reviews to ensure projects are delivered on time, as per cost targets and within quality specifications.

Partner with other functional managers to ensure manufacture-engineering activities are well integrated with manufacturing operations.

Provide guidance and feedback to subordinate managers to ensure achievement of goals and objectives.

Plan, budget, and manage the Manufacture Engineering, Facilities, Maintenance and NPI group costs in line with corporate objectives.

Implement appropriate HR Strategies and actions to recruit and retain a qualified and motivated workforce.

Develop, modify, and implement company policies that affect immediate operation(s) and may also have company-wide effect.

Regularly interact with executives and/or major customers in controversial situations, contract negotiations or other matters for which influence skills are required.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team

Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training plus a minimum of 8 years of management experience. A Master’s or MBA degree is preferred.

At least 15 years’ experience in PCBA manufacturing including SMT, wave soldering, and backend process development, new component package and soldering chemistry qualifications, and expertise in running Design of Experiments with statistical data analysis tools.

Provides technical leadership on new process, materials, component package and technology development, qualification, and deployment into operations to deliver best in class manufacturing and technology solutions across diverse operations teams and sites.

Oversees process engineering governance and technical road mapping for the sites, and supports critical project bring-up.

Demonstrates technical, communication and people management skills as well as customer (external and internal) relationship skills.
