Job summary

UCT is seeking a motivated Buyer to join our Batu Kawan client team on a renewable 6 months contract. The role focuses on negotiating with suppliers, managing inventory, and supporting purchasing policies to ensure material availability and cost efficiency.

Expect to work closely with production and logistics to meet material requirements, with reporting and record-keeping as part of daily duties. Strong SAP experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a purchasing or procurement role.
• Familiar with SAP system.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills with suppliers.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to optimise costs.
• Proficient in using procurement software and other relevant technologies.
• Organised and detail-oriented with ability to multitask.

Key responsibilities

Negotiate with suppliers to secure the best pricing, terms and delivery schedules for raw materials and other supplies

Manage inventory levels to ensure a steady supply of materials while minimising excess stock

Research new suppliers and products to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve efficiency

Collaborate with production and logistics teams to understand and meet their material requirements

Maintain detailed records and provide accurate reporting on purchasing activities

Assist in the development and implementation of purchasing policies and procedures

What we're looking for

Minimum 2 years' experience in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably within the manufacturing or logistics industry

Familiar with SAP system
