Job summary

Kerry Group in Pasir Gudang, Johor is seeking a Boiler Operator (Grade 1) to operate, monitor, and maintain steam boilers ensuring safe, efficient plant operations. You will perform routine inspections, monitor water quality, and coordinate with maintenance to support continuous production.

Ideal candidates have a DOSH Grade 1 Boiler Operator certificate, proficiency with Office tools, and experience in process industries.

Qualifications

• Steam Boiler Operator Grade 1 certificate of competency under DOSH.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience in boiler maintenance and operations.
• Willingness to work on shift schedules in a process industry.
• Strong technical, troubleshooting, and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain steam boilers to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Conduct routine inspection of boiler systems, steam lines, valves, pumps, and related equipment.
• Monitor boiler water quality and perform water treatment activities as required.
• Carry out boiler blowdown activities according to procedures.
• Record and maintain boiler operating parameters, log sheets, and utility data.
• Troubleshoot and report abnormal conditions or equipment failures.
• Perform first-line maintenance and coordinate with maintenance for major repairs.
• Ensure compliance with boiler regulations, safety standards, and procedures.
• Monitor fuel consumption and optimize boiler efficiency.
• Maintain housekeeping of the boiler house and utility areas.
• Operate and monitor utility equipment including air compressors, air dryers, cooling towers, chillers, water pumps, and water treatment systems.
• Conduct routine checks on utility equipment to ensure continuous operation.
• Monitor utility parameters and equipment performance.
• Perform preventive maintenance on utility equipment as assigned.
• Respond to utility breakdowns and support troubleshooting.
• Coordinate with production and maintenance teams to ensure uninterrupted utility supply.
• Ensure all utility equipment operates within design and safety limits.
• Report utility consumption, abnormalities, and maintenance requirements to supervisors.
• Follow safety, health, and environmental requirements.
• Participate in safety inspections, risk assessments, and emergency response activities.
• Ensure proper use of PPE.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions.
• Act as a Safety Coordinator, supporting safety and GMP compliance (if required).
• Promote and practice 5S workplace culture.
• Participate actively in plant safety and food safety initiatives.
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, HACCP, and GMP systems.
