Job summary

Samtec Asia Pacific (M) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Production Operator Optic for a 6-month contract in Penang. You will interpret blueprints, use measuring devices, and ensure products meet specifications while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The role requires attention to detail, teamwork, and basic math; candidates with chemicals or cable manufacturing exposure are a plus. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work with soldering tasks is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Manufacturing/assembly line experience is a plus.
• Must read specs, schematics, shop orders and prints; perform basic math.
• Attention to detail and ability to coordinate multiple activities.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Team player; able to work independently.
• Experience with chemicals is a plus.
• Experience with cable manufacturing processes is a plus.
• Must be able to sit/stand for 90 minutes; may solder or repair wires.
• Lifting up to 50 pounds; adhere to safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Understand and abide by safety/compliance standards set by area/Samtec.
• Interpret blueprint drawings to build product to required specs.
• Use required measuring devices for the process.
• Meet/exceed productivity goals for the area.
• Learn and sustain knowledge of quality issues; maintain quality.
• Perform buddy checks to confirm team members' work meets specs.
• Complete production paperwork and ITS data entries as required.
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace.
• Basic use of tools to setup/change tooling.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
