Job summary

KPJ Healthcare Berhad is seeking a Biomedical Engineer to support the Head of Healthcare Engineering Management in managing the lifecycle of medical equipment across planning, procurement, installation, maintenance, and compliance. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, Medical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in biomedical engineering, preferably in a hospital or healthcare environment.
• Fresh graduates with relevant hospital internships or industrial training may also be considered.
• Medical equipment maintenance.
• Preventive and corrective maintenance.

• Basic anatomy and physiology.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the annual Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) schedule for all biomedical equipment.
• Monitor the implementation and completion of the PPM schedule to ensure compliance with manufacturer recommendations and hospital policies.
• Coordinate and schedule corrective maintenance for faulty medical equipment with vendors or service providers.
• Monitor replacement of spare parts and ensure only approved parts are used.
• Maintain maintenance records, service reports, calibration certificates, and equipment history files.
• Prepare, monitor and manage maintenance service contracts with vendors, including renewals and negotiations.
• Monitor vendor performance to ensure compliance with contracts and safety requirements.
• Verify completed maintenance work before approving invoices.
• Coordinate installation, testing, commissioning and acceptance of new equipment.
• Ensure new equipment is delivered in good condition and safe for clinical use.
• Maintain hospital biomedical equipment inventory and asset registers.
• Evaluate equipment condition and recommend repair or replacement.
• Assist in preparing annual CAPEX and OPEX budgets for biomedical equipment.
• Provide procurement recommendations for new equipment and assist in acquiring spare parts.
• Ensure compliance with Quality Management System and regulatory standards.
• Develop and update biomedical engineering SOPs and policies.
• Participate in quality audits and accreditation activities.
• Prepare monthly reports on biomedical engineering activities.
• Attend trainings to maintain professional competency.
• Provide technical advice to clinical users on safe operation of equipment.
• Participate in new service implementations and hospital projects.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and service requests.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
