We are preparing to open a new café located next to Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lumpur.
The café will operate at the front of a larger restaurant but will have its own management team and distinct service style. It will offer speciality coffee, tea, juices, smoothies, pastries and convenient grab-and-go food.
Our goal is to create a warm, efficient and welcoming café known for excellent drinks, consistent quality and genuinely outstanding customer service.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Barista Manager to lead the café’s daily operations and develop a skilled, confident and customer-focused team.
This is a hands‑on role for someone with deep barista experience who understands every aspect of a successful café—from espresso preparation and latte art to equipment care, quality control, staff training and guest service.
The Barista Manager will be responsible for ensuring that every drink is prepared to a consistently high standard, every customer feels welcomed and the café remains clean, efficient and professionally managed.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the daily operation of the café and maintain a smooth, efficient service
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of espresso drinks, coffee, tea, juices and smoothies
- Maintain consistent standards for flavour, presentation, portioning and service
- Deliver warm, attentive and professional customer service
- Train, coach and supervise baristas and front‑of‑house café staff
- Build a positive, respectful and supportive team culture
- Monitor staff performance and provide regular guidance and feedback
- Maintain espresso machines, grinders and other café equipment, including routine cleaning and basic troubleshooting
- Ensure high standards of latte art, milk preparation and espresso extraction
- Establish and enforce drink recipes, preparation methods and quality‑control procedures
- Oversee café cleanliness, food hygiene and safe handling practices
- Manage opening, closing and daily operating procedures
- Monitor stock levels, minimise waste and coordinate ordering with suppliers
- Ensure pastries and grab‑and‑go items are attractively displayed, fresh and properly stored
- Respond professionally to customer concerns and use feedback to improve service
- Work closely with management on menu development, promotions and operational improvements
What We Are Looking For
- At least 4–5 years of professional barista experience
- Strong knowledge of espresso extraction, grinder calibration, milk steaming and latte art
- Experience cleaning, maintaining and troubleshooting commercial espresso equipment
- Exceptional customer‑service and communication skills
- Strong leadership and staff‑training abilities
- A sharp eye for quality, consistency and presentation
- Good understanding of café hygiene, food safety and cleaning procedures
- Ability to lead a busy service while remaining calm, organised and approachable
- Experience with juices, smoothies, tea, pastries or grab‑and‑go food is an advantage
- Familiarity with stock control, ordering and waste management
- Willingness to work weekends, public holidays and varying shifts as required
