Job summary

Betamek Electronics in Malaysia is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Research & Development Department, responsible for the mechanical design and development of automotive electronic products and components from concept to production.

You will collaborate with electronics, testing, and production teams; proficiency in Mandarin is essential for collaboration with international OEM partners; experience with CATIA V5 and AutoCAD is required; DFMEA and VAVE exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Proficient in Mandarin (spoken and written) — essential for communication with customers and suppliers.
• Skilled in CATIA V5 and AutoCAD for 3D and 2D design work.
• Familiar with automotive design standards and product development processes.
• Strong understanding of plastic and metal part design, tooling, and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and validate mechanical components and assemblies for automotive electronic products.
• Create and review 3D/2D CAD designs, ensuring compliance with customer and technical requirements.
• Conduct tooling design reviews for plastic and metal parts, including evaluation and modification.
• Verify and validate designs through 3D printing, prototyping, and product trials.
• Ensure all new product samples are assembled, tested, and submitted according to project timelines.
• Perform DFMEA and design improvement activities based on development findings and trial run results.
• Prepare and review engineering drawings, BOMs, ECNs, DFMEA reports, and design documentation.
• Conduct benchmarking studies on market products and apply relevant design insights to new developments.
• Liaise with suppliers and tooling vendors for technical discussions, design issues, and corrective actions.
• Provide technical support to Production, QA, and other departments for issue analysis and troubleshooting.
• Participate in VAVE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) activities and manage engineering changes.
• Ensure compliance with automotive standards, company quality policies, and ESG requirements.
