Job summary

Dialight Penang Sdn Bhd is seeking an Automation Engineer to drive industrial automation initiatives, improve production capacity and deliver sustainable cost reductions. You will lead projects from feasibility to commissioning and work across cross-functional teams to achieve measurable productivity gains.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in automation or related fields, 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, and strong skills in automation technologies, data analysis and project

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in automation, electrical & electronic, mechanical engineering, or mechatronics.
• Advanced degree (MSc) in electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience in manufacturing or multinational environments.
• Strong knowledge of automation technologies and project management.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify, develop and implement automation projects to increase production capacity and improve efficiency.
• Lead automation projects from feasibility through commissioning.
• Drive cost-reduction through process optimization and productivity improvement.
• Analyze processes to reduce manpower dependency and optimize costs.
• Explore Industry 4.0 technologies, AI and smart manufacturing.
• Prepare feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses and ROI assessments.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality and other teams to drive project success.
• Monitor progress and present outcomes to management.

Industrial Automation | Capacity Improvement | Cost Optimisation

We are looking for a dynamic and results-driven Automation Engineer to drive industrial automation initiatives, enhance production capacity, improve operational efficiency and deliver sustainable cost reductions.

The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying automation opportunities, leading engineering projects and implementing innovative solutions to improve manufacturing productivity, optimise resources and strengthen our competitive advantage.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineering professional who is passionate about automation, continuous improvement and Industry 4.0 technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Identify, develop and implement automation projects to increase production capacity and improve manufacturing efficiency.

Lead engineering and industrial automation projects from feasibility assessment through implementation and commissioning.

Drive cost-reduction initiatives through process optimisation, automation and productivity improvement.

Analyse existing manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to eliminate inefficiencies, reduce manpower dependency and optimise operational costs.

Explore and implement emerging technologies, including AI, smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0 solutions.

Conduct project feasibility studies, cost-benefit analysis, ROI assessments and performance evaluations.

Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality and other cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.

Monitor project progress, prepare technical reports and present project outcomes and recommendations to management.

Ensure all automation projects comply with safety, quality and operational requirements.

Requirements & Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related engineering discipline.

Master's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering will be an added advantage.

Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience, preferably within a multinational manufacturing environment.

Experience in one or more of the following industries:

Electronics / Electrical & Electronics (E&E)

Semiconductor manufacturing

Manufacturing engineering and industrial projects

Industrial engineering and process improvement

Proven track record in leading automation, productivity improvement and cost-reduction projects.

Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, automation technologies and project management.

Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

Proactive, innovative and results-oriented mindset.

Good leadership, project coordination and stakeholder management abilities.

Positive attitude, initiative and ability to work independently.

Strong computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Ability to prepare project proposals, analyse data and present findings effectively.
