Job summary

Flex is seeking an Automation Engineer to specify, design and maintain automation equipment and applications to meet specifications. Reporting to the Automation Manager, the role focuses on automating manufacturing processes and ensuring uptime through preventive and corrective actions.

The candidate should hold a Bachelor's in electrical/mechanical engineering with 6+ years in automation, including PLC programming, robot/cobot implementations, and camera-vision device development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in electrical/related field.
• Typically 6+ years of automation engineering experience in high-tech electronics or related area.
• Mechatronics design experience including robot/cobot implementations.
• Automated control experience (PLC programming) required.
• Experience developing devices with automatic camera recognition.
• Circuit design skills for equipment.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer, and modify moderately-complex automation equipment, tooling and applications to automate manufacturing processes.
• Establish technical manuals, drawings, models and maintenance plans for automation equipment and processes.
• Understand machine operating standards and wear/defect implications; drive corrective actions.
• Maintain uptime through preventive and breakdown maintenance.
• Collaborate with engineering/operations to ensure efficient department operation.
• Contribute to automation framework and processes for new products.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add an Automation Engineer located in Flex PTP.

Reporting to the Automation Manager the Automation Engineer role is responsible specifying, designing and maintaining automation equipment, tooling and applications as required to meet specifications.

What a typical day looks like:

• Design, engineer, and modify existing and new moderately-complex automation equipment, tooling and applications to automate manufacturing processes.
• Establish technical manuals, drawings, models, training documentation, preventative maintenance plans and troubleshooting guides for automated equipment and automated processes.
• Understand the machine operating standards, consequence of wear and tear parts and product defects
• Ensure the uptime of machines through regular preventive maintenance and breakdown maintenance
• Should be willing to learn & enhance the skill in all type of Automation equipment.
• Should prepare why-why evaluation & drive for permanent corrective actions.
• Should be able to give feedback to improve the design of process and equipment.
• Directs daily department activities to maximize equipment utilization and support production needs
• Coordinates maintenance activities with other functional groups such as engineering and operations to ensure the efficient operation of the departmental function.
• Collaborates and offers input to planning, building, and maintaining the Automation framework and associated processes for new products.
• Identifies and drives change to ensure automation effectiveness of existing processes.
• Demonstrates and thorough understing of customer requirements, offer suggestions and ideas on how best to deliver automation solutions.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or similar field.
• Typically requires at least 6 years of experience in automation engineering in the high technology electronics industry or related area.
• Mechatronics design (experience in implementing Robot/Cobot etc.)
• Automated control (PLC programing, etc)
• Experience in developing devices that include automatic camera recognition.
• Circuit design skills for equipment.
