Job summary

Flex is seeking an Automation Engineer to join our production engineering team at Flex PTP in Malaysia. Reporting to the Automation Manager, you will specify, design and maintain automation equipment, tooling and applications to meet specifications and support scalable manufacturing.

You will design and modify automation systems, establish manuals and preventive maintenance plans, ensure uptime through maintenance, and collaborate with engineering and operations to optimize the automation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or similar field.
• Minimum of 6 years in automation engineering in high technology electronics.
• Mechatronics design including robot/cobot implementations.
• Automated control (PLC programming).
• Experience with devices that include automatic camera recognition.
• Circuit design skills for equipment.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer, and modify automation equipment, tooling and applications for manufacturing processes.
• Establish manuals, drawings, models, training docs, preventive maintenance plans and troubleshooting guides.
• Ensure machine uptime through preventive and breakdown maintenance.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations to optimize automation and processes.
• Support planning and input to automation framework for new products.

Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Automation Engineer located in Flex PTP. Reporting to the Automation Manager the Automation Engineer role is responsible specifying, designing and maintaining automation equipment, tooling and applications as required to meet specifications.

What a typical day looks like:

• Design, engineer, and modify existing and new moderately-complex automation equipment, tooling and applications to automate manufacturing processes.
• Establish technical manuals, drawings, models, training documentation, preventative maintenance plans and troubleshooting guides for automated equipment and automated processes.
• Understand the machine operating standards, consequence of wear and tear parts and product defects
• Ensure the uptime of machines through regular preventive maintenance and breakdown maintenance
• Should be willing to learn & enhance the skill in all type of Automation equipment.
• Should prepare why-why evaluation & drive for permanent corrective actions.
• Should be able to give feedback to improve the design of process and equipment.
• Directs daily department activities to maximize equipment utilization and support production needs
• Coordinates maintenance activities with other functional groups such as engineering and operations to ensure the efficient operation of the departmental function.
• Collaborates and offers input to planning, building, and maintaining the Automation framework and associated processes for new products.
• Identifies and drives change to ensure automation effectiveness of existing processes.
• Demonstrates and thorough understing of customer requirements, offer suggestions and ideas on how best to deliver automation solutions.

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or similar field.
• Typically requires at least 6 years of experience in automation engineering in the high technology electronics industry or related area.
• Mechatronics design (experience in implementing Robot/Cobot etc.)
• Automated control (PLC programing, etc)
• Experience in developing devices that include automatic camera recognition.
• Circuit design skills for equipment.
