CIMB Group is seeking an Auditor, GCAD - Investigations MY (Section Head) to lead the investigation function and establish facts across regional operations. This role requires strong leadership, regulatory knowledge and the ability to coordinate with law enforcement and management.
You will oversee investigations into fraud, misconduct and control deficiencies, developing procedures and supervising staff to deliver timely, high-quality reports.
Responsible for the Investigation function with the objective of providing independent investigation services in establishing the facts, modus operandi of frauds (where applicable), control deficiencies, process gaps and making appropriate recommendations.
Key responsibilities
Assist the Investigation Department Head in the development and implementation of the overall investigation procedures and regional initiatives
Provide support to the Audit Committee and management in discharging its obligations and responsibilities relating to investigation cases, staff integrity, instilling good corporate governance and risk management practices
Identify, allocate and organise resource requirements, including people development requirements
Keep abreast of the regulatory landscape and emerging fraud risks and trends in order to be able to manage investigation cases effectively
Strategise, plan and decide on the scope of investigations covering forgeries, embezzlements, frauds, employee misconduct, financial wrong doings, robberies, allegations of abuse, complaints and other breaches
Procure all evidence, file applicable reports with regulatory bodies and work with investigating law enforcement agencies
Supervise investigation work being carried out and, where necessary, to consider obtaining external professional expertise
Attend disciplinary enquiries, court cases as required and other meetings relating to the investigations carried out
Review work papers to ensure proper documentation and work done and review draft reports prepared by Investigation Officers
Prepare timely and quality investigation reports upon completion of investigation
About you
Recognised Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Law or related disciplines
Professional qualification such as member of recognised accounting or internal auditing body
Minimum 8 years relevant experience in internal/external audit, compliance or risk management function, preferably in a financial institution
Able to work independently
Knowledge of the financial services business and its operations, including the rules and regulations in the domestic and international landscape
Proficient in investigation rules and practices, regulatory requirements, directives and guidelines issued by the relevant authorities and associations of the banking industry
Effective investigation interview techniques, and strong forensic accounting and analytical skills
Ability to identify risks related to business, identify control deficiencies and suggest how to mitigate risks in minimising fraud exposure
Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation and team building skills; ability to work and communicate effectively to all levels of management and staff
Strong leadership – capable of generating a high degree of respect and trust, building relationships rapidly with the various operating/business units and investigating law enforcement agencies
