Job summary

YEE CHOON KONG & CO PLT - Kuchai Lama is seeking a detail‑oriented audit junior to support engagement teams in performing assigned audit procedures, preparing accurate working papers, and gathering sufficient evidence under supervision.

You will develop sound technical knowledge, professional judgement, and client-handling skills while contributing to timely audit completions and clear documentation across various client engagements in Kuala Lumpur and surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• Candidate must have relevant professional qualification or degree in finance/accounting or related field.
• Knowledge of auditing standards and client handling is preferred.
• Fluent communication in English; Malay and Mandarin/Cantonese are optional.

Responsibilities

• Assist in understanding client business processes and key financial reporting risks.
• Perform assigned audit procedures for financial statement areas.
• Prepare audit working papers using firm methodology and templates.
• Conduct substantive and control procedures as instructed.
• Organise client schedules, confirmations, and statutory records for the audit.
• Identify inconsistencies and discuss with engagement senior.
• Update audit file with work performed and conclusions reached.

Job description

To support the audit engagement team in performing assigned audit procedures, preparing accurate working papers and obtaining sufficient appropriate audit evidence under supervision. The role is designed to develop sound technical knowledge, professional judgement, discipline and client-handling skills.

Job Responsibility:-

• Assist in understanding the client's business, accounting processes, internal controls and key financial reporting risks.
• Perform assigned audit procedures for financial statement areas such as cash and bank balances, receivables, payables, revenue, expenses, property, plant and equipment, payroll and other balances.
• Prepare clear, complete and properly cross-referenced audit working papers using the Firm's audit methodology and templates.
• Conduct vouching, tracing, recalculation, analytical review, sampling, confirmation follow-up and other substantive or control procedures as instructed.
• Obtain and organise client schedules, supporting documents, confirmations, minutes, agreements and statutory records required for the audit.
• Identify exceptions, inconsistencies, missing information and potential misstatements, and promptly discuss them with the engagement senior.
• Clear review notes promptly and accurately, and update the audit file to reflect work performed and conclusions reached.
• Assist with audit completion procedures, financial statement checking, disclosure checklists, subsequent-event review and administrative file completion.
• Communicate professionally with client personnel and provide timely progress updates to the engagement senior.
• Manage assigned work within agreed budgets and deadlines, maintain accurate timesheets and inform the senior early of delays or difficulties.
• Attend stock counts, site visits or other fieldwork assignments when required, including travel to client locations.
• Participate in technical training and continuously improve knowledge of applicable financial reporting, auditing, taxation and company law requirements.

Qualifications and experience:-

• Candidate must possess at least a Professional Certificate, Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Finance/Accountancy/Banking, Business Studies/Administration/Management or equivalent.
• Required skill(s): computer literacy, with CCH background is preferrable (training is provided for those without CCH background), able to communicate with all level of people, fast learner, able to manage pressure.
• Required language(s): English, Malay (Mandarin & Cantonese is optional)
• At least 3 years of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
• Preferably Senior Executives specializing in Finance - Audit or equivalent.
