Aemulus Corporation Sdn Bhd in Penang, Malaysia is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer to join our R&D team. You will design SMU, DPS, mixed-signal and high-speed digital modules for semiconductor device testing, focusing on SI/PI and manufacturability.

You will create schematics, select components, and ensure layouts meet electrical and thermal requirements while collaborating with Applications Engineers and customers for test coverage on AEMulus ATE platforms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of relevant working experience in Hardware Design, ATE, semiconductor testing, or related industries.
  • Strong understanding of high-speed digital design principles, analog and mixed-signal circuit design, as well as power supply and distribution design.
  • Familiarity with SI/PI analysis tools such as HyperLynx, ADS, LTSpice.
  • Knowledge of high current test structures, Kelvin measurements, thermal management, and pogo/probe interfaces.
  • Experience with semiconductor ATE platforms will be an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in schematic and PCB design tools such as Mentor PADS, Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro/OrCAD.
  • Basic scripting experience (Python, C#) for automation and hardware characterization.
  • Mandarin proficiency is also an added advantage for business support in China.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to high design quality.
  • Effective communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent design tasks under tight schedules.
  • Independent problem-solving mindset with strong hands-on debugging capability.

Responsibilities

  • Develop architecture and design of complex modules such as SMU, DPS, mixed-signals and high-speed digital boards for ATE applications.
  • Create schematics and ensure PCB layouts meeting electrical, mechanical, thermal, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Select appropriate components including drivers, power devices, relays, connectors, and high-speed signal devices.
  • Familiar with stack-up design, controlled impedance routing, length matching, and high-speed layout as required.
  • Analyze high-speed digital, analog, and mixed-signal paths to ensure optimal signal integrity.
  • Conduct SI/PI simulation and analysis (e.g., crosstalk, EMI/EMC, noise sensitivity).
  • Optimize routings and grounding strategies to minimize distortion, improve return paths, and enhance board performance.
  • Collaborate closely with Applications Engineers and customers to ensure modules designs meet all customer test coverage requirements on Aemulus ATE platforms.
  • Mentor and guide junior Hardware Design Engineers through technical reviews, knowledge sharing and training.
  • Manage production documentation including: Schematic BOM creation and Functional Test requirements documentation
  • Prepare assembly instructions for cases involving design deviations or board mismatches
  • Support root cause analysis for boards failures, performance issues, and bring-up challenges.
