Job summary

Electronic Arts Malaysia seeks a seasoned Technical Artist to bridge artists and engineers, driving AI-powered pipelines, tooling, and streamlined production workflows.

You will collaborate with EA creative teams to ensure asset integrity, optimize performance, and support both in-house and third-party tools. Proficiency in English and Chinese, experience with Unreal or Unity, Python scripting, and DCC apps are valued.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of work experience as a Technical Artist.
  • Minimum of 3 shipped products.
  • Proficiency in English and Chinese.
  • Knowledge of Generative AI tools like Copilot, 2D/3D art generation, ComfyUI, and Agentic apps.
  • Understand game production pipelines and workflows.
  • Familiar with Unreal 5 and Unity 3D, rendering pipelines, 3D math, and performance profiling.
  • Knowledge of Python or visual scripting.
  • Experience with DCC tools: Maya, 3ds Max, ZBrush, Substance Designer, Painter; programming bonus (C#, Python, Java, JS, SQL, shaders).
  • Familiar with modeling, texturing, animation, and rigging techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Explore Generative AI opportunities and build AI-based pipelines.
  • Support artists using the EA pipeline, tooling, and automate where possible.
  • Identify and fix inefficiencies in existing processes.
  • Develop methods to improve quality and efficiency for art production.
  • Create documentation for art production needs, including in-game integration and tool usage.
  • Check asset technical integrity before game integration.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline and file-structure issues across in-house and third-party software.
  • Communicate with stakeholders, artists, and teams.

Responsibility
  • Explore Generative AI opportunities and build AI-based pipelines.
  • Support for artists using the EA pipeline, workflow, and tools. Develop tools to refine processes, including batching and automation.
  • Look for and fix inefficiencies and problems in existing processes.
  • Develop and share methods to help artists achieve the highest quality and maximum efficiency.
  • Create documents for artists outlining art production needs, including in-game integration, 3rd-party and in-house tools, and art asset critiques.
  • Check assets for technical integrity before integrating into the game.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues inherent in maintaining a clean file structure and pipelines for both in house and 3rd party software.
  • Communicate with stakeholders, artists, and our teams.
You Will Have The Following Skills
  • Minimum 6 Years of work experience as a Technical Artist
  • Minimum of 3 shipped Products
  • English and Chinese proficiency
  • Knowledge of Generative AI such as Copilot, 2D/3D art generation, ComfyUI, and Agentic applications
  • Knowledge of Game Production Pipeline and Workflows
  • General knowledge of Game Development Engines such as Unreal 5 and Unity 3d Knowledge of rendering pipelines, 3d math, and performance profiling
  • Knowledge of Python scripting or Visual scripting
  • Knowledge of DCC Tools such as Maya, Max, Zbrush, Substance Designer, and Painter Programming experience considered a bonus (C#, Python, Java, JavaScript, SQL, Cg/HLSL shaders), as are traditional drawing, painting, or sculpting skills.
  • Familiar with the latest asset creation techniques such as Modeling, Texturing, Animation, and Rigging.
