Job summary

Taylor’s University is seeking an Associate Professor in Smart Technology and Interactive Media within The Design School. The role focuses on integrating creative design with smart technologies to shape immersive and spatial experiences across public and private spaces.

The candidate will lead teaching and research in creative smart home design, driving interdisciplinary curriculum and establishing industry and international collaborations to elevate the programme’s impact.

Qualifications

• PhD in Design, Smart Environments, Interaction Design, Immersive & Interactive Design or related field.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic and strategic leadership in the programme, aligning with industry trends and international benchmarks.
• Develop and deliver high-quality teaching and research in creative smart home design and immersive spatial experiences.
• Drive interdisciplinary curriculum content that integrates AI, IoT, AR/VR and interactive media into spatial design.
• Establish partnerships with industry, government and international institutions to enhance the programme’s impact.
• Lead research initiatives in practice-based design innovation and human-centered spatial interactions.
• Mentor faculty and students in creative research and industry-driven projects.
• Contribute to internationalisation efforts and knowledge exchange with global experts.
• Oversee accreditation, quality assurance and continuous improvement of the programme.
