Job summary

Space Executive is recruiting on behalf of a fast-growing data centre developer in Johor Bahru to appoint a senior on-the-ground Project Lead. You will own construction delivery, site inspections, contractor management, and quality control across active builds, with direct reporting to the Development Director in Singapore.

Candidates with broader development experience who can contribute to pre-construction and technical planning are welcome.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years in data centre development, construction, or project delivery.
• Strong understanding of civil, structural, M&E, and critical systems.
• Proven ability to manage contractors on active sites with programme accountability.
• Based on ground in Johor Bahru with reporting to Singapore.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on-site representative for the data centre construction programme in Johor Bahru, reporting to the Development Director in Singapore.
• Oversee day-to-day construction delivery across active builds, monitoring progress against programme, budget, and quality benchmarks.
• Conduct regular site inspections across all construction phases, identifying issues and driving corrective actions.
• Manage relationships with main contractors, subcontractors, and specialist vendors on-site, holding them accountable to contractual deliverables and technical standards.
• Coordinate with internal engineering, technical, and commercial teams to resolve design queries and site instructions.
• Track and report construction milestones, risks, and issues to senior leadership.
• Support commissioning and handover processes to ensure facilities meet operational readiness requirements, liaising with local authorities for permits and regulatory compliance.

This is a senior on-the-ground hire reporting directly to the Development Director based in Singapore. The role goes beyond traditional project management - the successful candidate will take full ownership of construction delivery, site inspection, contractor management, quality control, and overall data centre development progress across active builds. The company is also open to candidates with a broader development background who can contribute across pre-construction and technical planning phases.

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
