Qualifications

• 8+ years in data centre development, construction, or project delivery.
• Strong understanding of civil, structural, M&E, and critical systems.
• Experience managing contractors on active construction sites with accountability for programme and quality.
• Able to work independently on-site in Johor Bahru with regular reporting to Singapore.
• Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or related field; Mandarin preferred.

• Oversee day-to-day construction delivery against programme, budget, and quality.

We are working exclusively on behalf of a fast-growing data centre developer with an active construction pipeline in Johore.

This is a senior on-the-ground hire reporting directly to the Development Director based in Singapore. The role goes beyond traditional project management - the successful candidate will take full ownership of construction delivery, site inspection, contractor management, quality control, and overall data centre development progress across active builds. The company is also open to candidates with a broader development background who can contribute across pre-construction and technical planning phases.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on-site representative for the company's data centre construction programme in Johor Bahru, reporting to the Development Director in Singapore.
• Oversee day-to-day construction delivery across active builds, monitoring progress against programme, budget, and quality benchmarks.
• Conduct regular site inspections across all construction phases, identifying issues and driving corrective actions.
• Manage relationships with main contractors, subcontractors, and specialist vendors on-site, holding them accountable to contractual deliverables and technical standards.
• Coordinate with internal engineering, technical, and commercial teams to resolve design queries and site instructions.
• Track and report construction milestones, risks, and issues to senior leadership.
• Support commissioning and handover processes to ensure facilities meet operational readiness requirements. Liaise with local authorities for permits, inspections, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of experience in data centre development, construction, or project delivery.
• Strong understanding of data centre construction processes including civil, structural, M&E, and critical systems.
• Proven ability to manage contractors on active construction sites with accountability for programme and quality.
• Comfortable working independently on the ground in Johor Bahru with regular reporting to Singapore.
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Mandarin-speaking preferred.
